Just to take up from where Tanthya dropped off. The progression of Krishna's love.
When I read about the snake-bite/hospital track via SBS I was a little surprised. I had not anticipated a further upping of the ante at this point. I had anticipated a showdown from Pratigya's side and maybe a little melting/meltdown(!?) from Krishna and then perhaps wooing on Pratigya's part. What is this twist for? Surely it is not just to provide Pratigya with an occasion to know her own love? Does she need to see him die to see her love? Seems like overkill surely?
But after considering this new twist for a bit, I feel like congratulating the CVs yet again. This twist I have begun to feel is not for Pratigya at all. It is the final test in Krishna's Graduation.
I see how from the moment he set eyes on Pratigya, Krishna's character and his love have slowly been tempered with the trial of fire. At each turn, circumstances have asked new questions of his love and his inner strength, and at each turn he has answered with trumps, very often surprising himself. The beauty of Krishna's education has been that he himself did not know his own potential or his real inclinations and strength.
On each occasion he has looked inside of himself expecting to find hurt pride, masculine ego, anger, resentment and a need to dominate. On each occasion he has found instead a great sense of fairplay and LOVE. Again and again he has looked. Again and again he has found LOVE.
Even on this last great instance of what he thought was the ultimate betrayal, when he was so sure self-preservation will kick in, he has been unable to find that seat of ego which he thought was his identity. He has dug and dug within himself and all that wells up is love. This great blow to his identity and sense of self has almost crazed him with its impact.
This is a point at which two things can happen without a further catalyst-
One: the person rejects this change in himself because of fear and entirely goes back to a former state. Clings to the known self in the face of turbulence and unknown seas.
Two: the person accepts this changed identity, but with a underlining resentment for the object/love/person that caused it. That is by adopting a secondary ego to mask the first one that is lost.
Most of us were expecting the second reaction. Where the depth of Krishna's love is acknowledged but we are able to preserve his ego for him.
But as usual the CV's have one up on us!
Krishna's ego (which is simple not the same as self respect) is not for anybody else to break. It is for him to sacrifice in the fire of love. It is only when he realizes that nothing, NOTHING is more important than his love that he is freed from his inner conflict.
At this point, it is important to realize the contrast that this stand makes with EVERYTHING he has been taught from the cradle.
-Never give an inch
-Self before all else –it is a dog-eat dog world. And even murder is acceptable
- Other human beings can be sacrificed for any reason. Comfort, money, power, prestige, ego!
The behavior of the Thakurs who have threatened three people with murder in one day and prepared to cold-bloodlessly kill one has been cleverly displayed by the CVs to provide the strongest background for this momentous decision of Krishna.
So the CVs provide a further catalyst for Krishna to be left without a doubt about himself and his heart.
And as have come to know, Krishna who has grown up surrounded by those Thakur values, proceeds to reject them in one instance of pure instinct. In the moment of choice between Self-preservation and LOVE, he unequivocally chooses love. With this final act, without an escape route, he has chosen his true self.
Now, it is impossible for Krishna to ever deny his true nature. He has committed himself.
