Why did Yuddishtir...

Why did Yuddishtir gamble Draupadi (who belonged to all five Pandavs) and not Devika, the wife who was solely his?

Surely if Yuddishtir still had sons and wives, this game would not have ended at Draupadi? (Or Draupadi wouldn't have been staked as she was a mutual wife)?

Gud question manojie.. Draupadi was common to all the five Pandavas... She was the strength tht held them together... Shakuni mama manipulated Yudi into trading Draupadi...

I've the same question as yours .. Maybe Draupadi had insulted Duryodhan that's why they wanted to take revenge from her ...

I think Yuddhistir made one mistake, a very big one, but we can't hold that against him forever. It shows how bad gambling is. A vice that can make even the righteous do heinous things.

I know Duryodhan hated Draupadi. I am just curious why Yuddhistir chose her, when she wasn't just his, but he did had a wife who WAS just his.

The reason Draupadi was staked was not because Yudhisthir randomly chose her over his other wives. Shakuni told him to stake her. It was pre-decided by Duryodhan that Draupadi would be staked so that he could get his revenge on her for laughing at him in the maya sabha at Indraprastha.

This question is very controversial...whether he'd have staked his wife Devika in place of Draupadi or not, is an arguable point.
But the main question striking my mind is...how could he stake her when he had lost his right on himself even! Didn't he understand such a petite thing being a Dharmaraja! Yudhisthira was not a kid and must have been well aware of the later consequences...yet he staked her.

yudi had lost himself n his bros.so i think their wifes would have automatically become kaurava slave.but still i think dury was more interested in draupadi bc she was their symbol of pride n unity.n humiliating her would always be a sore spot for them. but nothing justifies yudi action. i dont know much abt gambling but i think excitement ( i dont know suitable word) of gambling prevented yudi from seeing right or wrong.


my post limit is up hence i am adding more here. yudi thought "may be" he will win this. this "may be " dillema of a gambler led to his downfall.

Wasn't he aware of the fact that Shakuni can't lose! 😆

Indeed Duryodhan, Dusshasan and Shakuni were guilty...but their guilt can't justify Yudhisthira's action.
