I've been excited about this since HB mentioned it. Am not a Hindu but learn a lot about these kind of stories from my Hindu friends and foster family members.
I believe that the CV will play it well. We saw these kind of adaptation in Gangaur track and the Tula Daan scene.

To be truthful, this serial makes me feel like I'm on a roller-coaster. I felt too overwhelm sometimes. But these kind of scenes ( Gangaur track, Dargah scene, Tula Daan scene etc) gave me some peace because those kind of scenes always beautiful.😳

Looks like Ekta is really trying to show us all that AkDha is Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi...

A bit more of pauranic detail might be of interest to all of you.

There was a struggle between the Asura king Mahabali and the Devraj Indra for the Amritkalash, which contained the amrit, the nectar that gave immortality to whoever ate some of it. In the struggle, the Amritkalash fell into the ocean.

As neither group could retrieve it on their own, the Devas and the Asuras collaborated in the sagarmanthan, to churn the ocean with the Mandaraparvat as the churn and the great snake Vasuki as the rope.

One of the first things to emerge from the ocean was the terrible aalakaala vish. If it had been left free to spread, all of creation would have been destroyed. So Mahadev swallowed the aalakaala vish , and as he did so, Parvati grasped his throat and stopped it from going further. So it stained his neck, where it stagnated, blue, leading to the name Neelkanta.

This episode was shown very well in Devon ke dev Mahadev some months ago.
