Times Of India- Taarak Mehta is going strong

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) was one of the top five shows last year. And the New Year seems to have further strengthened its position on the ratings chart.

"We began the year with a high TRP of 5.1. It has definitely been a great beginning for 2014. It also shows that people prefer laughter and courage over tears and domestic politics. We have new plans for this year. A couple of characters will take the story ahead. Haste hasaate hue aage jaana hai hum sab ko," says producer Asit Kumarr Modi.
TMKOC, which highlights topical issues, deals with the life of a common man in a realistic manner. It's also the first Indian daily comedy show to have crossed the mark of 1,000 episodes. Neela Telefilms is also working on the script of a feature film along with a children's animation film for the Tappu Sena.

"Our expertise lies in focussing on realistic characters without resorting to gimmicks or unnatural narrative. Our endeavour is to create family entertainers. Our game show Sab Khelo Sab Jeeto also falls in that category. We, and our host Cyrus Sahukar, have received positive feedback from participants for giving them family fun time," he adds. The weekend show has also completed 38 episodes.
