Astha was shocked still to say the least..Wide eyed she stared into his dark eyes..

It took her a few minutes to get her voice..

"But..But..Why..?Hadn't they..Hadn't they said it was not required..?"

"They just called me up to inform me that we have to be there personally..Look up the decorations ourselves.Or else they'll cancel the deal..But if you want-.."

"It's..It's alright sir..We'll go if it's necessary.."

A helpless looking Shlok nodded his agreement as he watched her leave.

Astha was packing her bag when Kalindi walked in..

"Astha beta?Are you sure you are going to be fine with this..?I mean.."

"It's okay ayi!"Astha siled lovingly and hugged her mother,who hugged her back."This is part of my job..And aren't you the one who keeps on saying I'm both your son and daughter?So please don't worry?"

"Okay beta.But be sure to call me and keep in contact with me all the time.."

"Of course ayi!"Astha let her go and smiled looking into her mother's eyes.

A car's honking interrupted their exchange..

"Sir is here!I need to leave!"She quickly closed her bag,kissed her mother on the cheek and ran downstairs."Bye ayi!"

"Bye beta!"Kalindi called out from the window."Bappa protect my daughter all the time.."She prayed to God,as she watched the white car leave..

God do help me and give me strength to protect her from me!Shlok prayed silently,as Astha got in the car,and her beautiful fragrance filled the interior of the car.

He did not even turn to see her..He was better off not looking at her at all,he had decided yesterday..

The more he saw her,the more he lost his sense and mind..

He waited to hear the click of the seatbelt being tied.When he heard it,he asked,

"Ready Astha?Should we get going..?"

"Y-yes.."Came the soft response..

And Shlok changed gears,and started his long long long journey with Astha Kirloskar..The girl who seemed to ignite his desire with her mere existence..He was not sure how he would manage to survive to and forth from Mumbai..

As Shlok was some way across the highway,he decided to fill up his car with petrol..So he stopped at a filling station.

Unaware that a silver car also stopped at a distant..The same car that had been following them for some time now.

Silently Astha watched him get down..

A few minutes passed,then some more..She was keeping an eye on him thorugh the side mirror..Watching him fill the petrol..

Suddenly he vanished from view..

Maybe he went to pay the bill..She decided..

The minutes stretched,but still she did not see a trace of him..She looked around from the car,but Shlok was no where to be seen..

Where was he?!She thought worriedly,chewing on her bottom lip in worry.

As more time elapsed,she finally decided to get down herself and search for him..She was getting really worried now..

As she walked towards the cash counter,she realized Shlok was not there..But still she walked upto the counter.

"Bhaiya?Did you see the guy who came in that white car?"Astha asked the man sitting at the cash counter.

"Yes..But he paid the money some time ago and left.."

"Did you see which way he left..?"

"No.."

Astha was really worried now..Where had he vanished to?

She looked around..On both side of the filling station she could only see jungle..

She was sure,he had not walked to the side that lead to Mumbai,or she would have seen him..

But he could have walked the other way..

"Bappa!Why did this man have to vanish into thin air literally?!"She muttered grumpily to herself,and unmindfully she did not see the root of the tree that was lying on her path..

"Aaah!!!"She slipped and was just about to hit the hard ground when out of nowhere a pair of strong arms,took her in its embrace..

"Astha?Are you alright?"Came a familiar husky voice that were like sweet music to her ears,she thought,as she blinked and stared into a familiar pair of dark mysterious male eyes..

How she loved her name from his lips,and how she had missed him looking at her like this,she thought dazedly.

"Astha..?"

Astha finally realized they were in an embarrassing situation..

"I-..I'm alright.."She said breathlessly,and moved out of his hold,and was just about to take a step,when a searing pain passed through her leg.."Ouch!"She winced out.

"Astha..?!You hurt yourself didn't you?!"Shlok asked in a worried voice..

And before Astha could react or reply,he had taken her in his arms and carried her to the car..He opened the passenger door,and made her sit on it,while he checked her legs..

It was while he was checking her right ankle,that she winced out in pain again..

"Sorry.."He said when she winced in pain again.."It's a sprained ankle I think..Wait here.."

He was back within seconds with a first aid kit..And as a stunned Astha watched silently,he carefully removed her sandal,and wrapped her ankle with crap bandage..

"Here done!Don't move this leg too much.."He said softly,as he stood up..

With gentle hands he fixed her position on the seat and tied her seatbelt.While a mesmerized Astha watched his act quietly..Clearly moved by his gentle caring..

Shlok had tied the seat belt when his eyes met hers..Something seemed to pass between them..A silent conversation with their eyes..He stared unblinkingly into her slanted hazel eyes,as if lost in them..The time and place forgotten..

Then suddenly she shivered as cool breeze from the jungle entered the car through the open car door,making Shlok break the eye contact..

He quickly moved away,closing the car door..

Quietly Astha waited for him to re enter the car..

He took some time to return...

Just when she was about to turn to look for him,he opened the door and sat on the driver's seat..

This time Astha was a bit angry at him for vanishing without saying anything everytime.

"Is this an inherited habit of yours?"She asked in an irritated voice angrily,as he was busy tying his seatbelt.

"What do you mean?"He asked,clearly confused..

"Where had you vanished to?!I had to come looking for you..Why did you have to do that..?!Are we playing hide and seek over here?!Do you know how worried I was for you, thinking..-"She stopped abruptly realizing she had just said too much.

But Shlok's eyes now had a new glint in them.

"You did not finish Astha..You were worried about Me thinking..?"His eyes had hypnotized her once again..

She inhaled a steadying breath,but instantly got engulfed in his musky scent..A mixture of his cologne and something that was just exclusively him..

"I was just..I was just worried.."She said lamely,quickly looking away..This man would be the death of her,she thought breathlessly..

Shlok quickly got back his sense..

What the hell was he doing again..?

"Ummm..Here.."Shlok handed her a packet..

Astha peeped into it and instantly her face lighted up like a small kid given chocolates..

"Pakoras?!!Thank you!I just love them!"

Shlok could not help but smile at her happiness on seeing a simple packet of roadside pakoras..

"Yes..Well that's where I'd been to when you-..When you got worried for me..And then a call came from our Mumbai client so I had to attend to it,and so got late..Sorry..And our venue has changed..We have to go to a farmhouse on the way to Mumbai.."He peeped a look at her as he turned on the ignition and changed gears and got the SUV moving..

She was busy munching pakoras and relishing them with closed eyes..He just loved watching her antics..He thought with a loving smile just before he looked back at the road..

Somewhere behind them the silver car started,but with a sputter the car's engine stopped..

"Damn!"The man inside cursed out..

"How the hell am I going to follow them now?!"He cursed himself,as he kept on turning the ignition but the car just wouldn't budge..

Disappointedly he watched the white SUV vanish..

He had to catch his prey some other time..

It was dark by the time,he turned the SUV into a lonely half complete road..On one side there was a deep jungle,and the other side was just empty grasslands..The long grasses waving eerily in the moonlit night..

Astha gulped down a knot of fear..She could not see a living soul anywhere..Nor could she see any other car or light sources..

A long bramble brushed against her closed window,as the car drove past,making her jump in fear..

Astha was really worried and scared now,as it was quiet late,and they were in the middle of nowhere..

"Are you sure this is the way?"

"Yes Astha..I checked..We are almost there.."He said soothingly..

"But what if there are ghosts over here..?I've read ghosts really-.."

Astha's sentence was broken by a burst of laughter from Shlok..

"You aren't scared of being with me in the middle of nowhere?!But you are scared of ghost?!"He chuckled.

"Why should I be scared of you?!"She said grumpily,as she looked away..

Shlok parked the car..And together they finally entered a large but well maintained building..It was a huge duplex bungalow with a huge hallroom..

It was quiet dark,and it seemed their clients were still not there..

The one old servantwho had greeted them, informed them that they would be here the next morning..

When Shlok asked him about who else were here,the old man replied that he was the only one there at that time..

Astha had an eery feeling at the strange and forlorn look of the huge empty bungalow..She was sure there were ghosts in the darkened corners of the building..

The servant carried their bags to a room on the first floor..

As they followed him,the staircases seemed to squeak..The entire house was drowned in darkness save a light in the hallroom and a lantern in the hand of the old man.

"Here is your room.."

Shlok and Astha had both entered the room,and Shlok had just turned to let the man know he needed another room,when the old man left,and the door clicked shut behind him

"Hey!Wait!"He quickly walked to the door to call the servant..He turned the knob..The door did not budge..

"Shit!He locked it!!!"He said in a shocked voice..
