CHAPTER-24.

Shlok kept on trying to open the door..Trying to turn the knob without success,and then banging on the door to get the servant's attention..

"HELLO!!!OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!!!"He yelled in vain..

"Damn the idiot man!"He cursed trying to push the door open..But the heavy door was not budging an inch..

But Shlok was not about to give up..He had to get out of this room if he did not want to die tonight due to his unanswered Desire Calls..

He finally decided to try the windows..Those were shut tight too,he realised..Finally after pushing and shoving for a few minutes,the huge windows creaked open..Spreading a cloud of dust which got him coughing..

"HELLO!IS SOMEONE THERE!OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!!!"He screamed through the open window overlooking a dark garden,in vain..

As Shlok was lost in his unsuccessful attempt to get them out of the room,he did not notice the condition of the room only lit by a tiny lantern at the corner or the pale scared face of Astha..

He was not aware of anything other than his anger and frustration,until a soft voice called him out..

"Sh.-..Shlok Sss-..Sir.."Astha called out in a thready whisper surprising Shlok in the process.

Slowly he turned round..Astha was still standing by the door,looking at a corner of the room..Her eyes large in fear,as he could make out from the dim light in the room..

"Astha?!What's wrong?Are you okay?What hap-.."

Shlok had started walking towards her and had almost reached her,when he broke off in mid-sentence as she suddenly hugged him tightly.

Shlok almost lost his balance at the impact,and then his breathing,and then he started losing his control on..On his thudding heart..

In the dimly lit room,his heart beat like a maddened thing,as her soft body clung to him..The only thing he could hear was their harsh breathing and his thudding heart..

He gulped down a knot of desire..His body always started to react too fast at her proximity..

"Astha?What happened?"He finally managed to ask,getting back his voice from somewhere.

She muffled something into his chest..Her voice getting lost between his clothes..

"What..?What did you say..?"

"I saw something over there.."She finally said in a scared whisper.

"Over where?"

"There..!"Astha pointed at a corner in the room,but on squinting into it Shlok find nothing amiss..

"But Astha..!There is nothing there!You must have mistaken-"

"NO!!!I saw it!It was there!It was right there!"She said hysterically,holding onto him tighter.

Shlok sighed out.He knew just how to deal with a hysterical female..He had done it a number of times in his life..

"Okay Astha..Come over here.Sit down.We'll discuss about it.."He said soothingly,as he made her sit on the large four poster bed on the centre of the room..

It took Shlok some time to calm Astha and make her relax.Finally he got himself free from her hold,as he made her lie down on the bed,and covered her sleeping form with the blanket.

He stood up and studied her innocent face,as she slept like a baby..The light from the lantern cast shadows on her beautiful flawless features..She looked ethereal to him..Her soft lips slightly parted in sleep,her hair strands spread like a dark cloud on the white pillows..Everything mesmerized Shlok at that moment..

With a long sigh he finally managed to move his eyes off her and look around..Now as he studied the room,he did understand why Astha had been so scared..The room did look creepy..as if something or someone was hiding in the moving darkened shadows of the room..And the servant who had greeted them seemed to have come out from a perfect horror movie..The empty lone old bungalow,in the middle of nowhere,with creepy staircases..Not a living soul except a lone old man..It all added up to the-..

Somewhere nearby an owl hooted,making him jump in surprise..And then he chuckled at his own stupidity..He just could not believe he was getting freaked out for no reason..

It was midnight when Astha woke up..Her eyes widened as she took in her surroundings..

And then she remembered where she was and who she was with..

Her eyes instantly searched for that reassuring male figure..He was nowhere around..

Has he left?!!Her eyes widened with renewed terror..

Finally her frantic eyes saw his lying form on the huge divan cum couch at the corner of the room.Unconsciously she let out a sigh of relief,a smile touching her lips unknowingly.

But then a sudden movement at another corner replaced the smile with worry..

Astha carefully turned her head to where she heard it from..

She blinked trying to clear her view..

Had she just seen a white figure sweep by..

Her heart was now thudding like a crazed thing..Her face paled,and she clawed on the white bed sheet..Something white was sweeping at the corner..

Shlok was drowsy and could barely open her eyes,as a soft lump fell on top of him..

"Shlok..Sh-.SHLOK!!!"He nearly smiled in his sleep..He loved his name from her lips..Infact he-..

"SHLOK!It's here!PLEASE!!!"

She was now patting his face to wake him up..With a dark frown,he pulled her hands away and locked them between their body,his eyes still closed tight shut..

"SHLOK!"She hissed out again,making him frown deeper..

His sleep drowned senses only knew he needed to sleep..Nothing else mattered to him at that moment..

So what Shlok did in his sleep was something a wide awake Shlok would not have done in his senses..

He pulled her down on the couch,and took her in his embrace..

"SHLOK!I saw it again!It's-.."

"Shshshshhh!"He warned opening his sleepy eyes halfway,and then his lips captured hers,to silence her next outburst..Her sound died in a small whimper in her throat,as his firm male lips started caressing hers..

In his sleepy condition Shlok kissed her without inhibitions,as if he had all the time in the world..Gently licking at her soft lips,then nibbling on them..His body warming up simultaneously..

His tongue was trying to make an entry into her mouth,when Astha pulled her lips away..

But Shlok did not protest or force her..To his happiness she was quiet again,and he pulled her into his tight embrace,and went back into his deep slumber..

He was not aware of a silent,breathless and blushing Astha staring at him through hooded eyes..She had completely forgotten about her recent scare..Then sleep took over her senses too,and she relaxed in his warm embrace and fell asleep too,with a soft smile on her lips..

A loud banging noise brought Shlok and Astha awake at the same time..

Both jumped away from each other,as they realized how they had spent the whole night..

They both looked away in embarrassment..

But the banging continued,breaking into their awkwardness..

Saved by the bang!Shlok thought sarcastically as he walked to open the door..

The door did not budge no matter how much he pulled or pushed at it..

"It's locked!"He called out to whoever was on the other side..

A muffled reply followed by a chaos of voices,and some clinking sound of keys followed..

He just took a look at Astha,out of the corner of his eyes,and relaxed on seeing she was presentable..

Finally the heavy door creaked open,and all of a sudden a large crowd of people pushed their way into the room..

Shlok looked with rounded eyes at his client Mr. Ashish Patel..A middle aged bulky man,who was followed by a rounded short woman,and a large crowd of people..

"Oh Mr. Shlok!I'm so sorry!My old servant locked you up in here last night!He thought you are man and wife,and so-.."Ashish Patel was interrupted by the woman.

"Ohho!Patel ji!Aap bhi na!Mr. Shlok it's all Patelji's fault,you know..He has kept that old man over here as he was their ancestral servant.I told him-.."The woman was now stopped by Mr. Patel..

"Bubbly ji!Let me finish!Wo Mr. Shlok,hua yu ki..-"

"Patelji aap mujhe-.."

"STOP!!!!!"Shlok finally shouted out,bringing a sudden hush in the room..He was tired of looking to and fro between the twom people,and also taking in the cacophony of the crowd behind them..

"Mr. Patel..It's nice to meet you FINALLY.Can you please arrange a separate fresh room for me and my assistant Astha now?!We really need to freshen up now-.."

Now a third voice interrupted him from the back of the crowd.

"So the love birds spent the night together.."

CLAP!CLAP!CLAP!

The crowd parted as a man with a familiar sneer on his face walked upto a silent Shlok..

"But staying the night with your fiance is after all not a sin,now is it?And congratulations are in order too,isn't it Mr. Shlok Agnihotri?"

nice update, i like how when your scared you dont care about hugging and other intimate contact...interesting how shlock reacted in his semi sleep...more interesting that the guy came face to face with shlock!
