No no, its fair. They do have a right to adopt into their environments but they need to show some courtesy about their actions that they take in representing cultures. Do you understand what I mean?😆

FOBs!! Haa haa!! I haven't heard that word since I finished college!! I think it is good to change...when you are in Rome you gotta be Romans :) BUT change for the better not for the worse. I always think every person should adapt the good things of other cultures and keep the good things of one's own culture. It is good to have an open mind.

To answer your question more directly, it is not a matter of right or wrong. It's ok if you wear baggy clothes, have 10 piercings, get drunk but it is not ok to not study, be irresposnsible and waste your life.

I think it can actually go both ways. I'm currently living in the US and I've lived outside of Bangladesh most of my life but when I return every two years or so, I get surprised by the changes. Walking around the malls in BD, you will see so many (unmarried) couples which is more of a western thing. I'm not saying that everyone in BD acts American or western or w/e but there are definitely people who try to act like they're foreigners. Also, there are people in BD who don't speak a word of bangla and understand very little of it even though they're born and brought up there. There are also people in US who are on the other side of the spectrum. I can read, write and speak bangla and most of my bengali friends can too. We dress up, we celebrate holidays... I think a lot also depends on the type of bengali community you live in if you live abroad.
I think its important to know about different cultures especially your own!
About the piercings and throwing away education...any bengali that does that is plain stupid! Why destroy the theory that asians are smarter than others?
