Koffee With Karan_Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor

This was the special K episode of Koffee With Karan. There was KJo talking to KKK and RK junior mostly about KK (Katrina Kaif). There were so many Ks being discussed that at one point we thought Ekta Kapoor would magically appear on screen. Thankfully, Karan's Kounterpart was nowhere to be seen or heard, but plenty of air time was also given to Bollywood's biggest Ks, namely Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan. But how honest were the cousins on Karan's couch? As always, we sniff out the bullshit factor, rating it on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being a crock o' Leprechaun gold, and 1 being honest-to-God sainthood.

Ranbir Kapoor Will Not Talk About His Personal Life (But It's Cool If Everybody Else Does)
"I will not use the platform of Koffee With Karan to speak about my personal life because that leads to a lot of conjectures and speculations," said Ranbir Kapoor early on in the episode. What he meant was that while he wouldn't be admitting anything, he would be happy to let his cousin Kareena Kapoor Khan play the stereotypical blabbermouth elder sister spilling the beans about her brother's shenanigans. "He's dating Katrina Kaif," said Kapoor Khan, putting to rest all speculation that Kapoor and Kaif were dating, yet evoking not the slightest bit of irritation from her cuz. Kapoor Khan went on to say that she's "really happy" for Ranbir, and wholeheartedly approves of his choice of girlfriend to the extent that she's already decided "to do a solo dance to Chikni Chameli' and Sheila Ki Jawani'" at the pair's as-yet-unannounced wedding.

Kapoor Khan didn't stop there, she also gave viewers an indirect confirmation of the alleged relationship between Ranbir's ex Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh by saying in the rapid fire segment that she hoped the last number dialed she would see on Deepika's phone would be Ranveer's. And while they were at it, Karan Johar also decided to let us all know that Kaif and Salman Khan were indeed seeing each other at one point by asking Ranbir if Khan and he were cool considering Sallu's history with Kaif. If it all seemed like one big spontaneous reveal, KJo should blame it all on Kareena for letting out that "we were all at dinner last night". So, dear viewer, if you thought this was some sort of coup, know that it was probably just another carefully crafted PR stunt, so much so that Kareena once asked Ranbir "Rehearse kar ke aaya?"

Kareena Kapoor Khan Is Not Here To Make Friends, Yo
Perhaps Ranbir Kapoor put it best when he said to his cousin "you haven't really been friendly with a colleague of yours...you only like people who are either ten years your senior or who are just born." Kareena Kapoor Khan has never been known to praise her female contemporaries and that isn't about to change any time soon. "I'm not here to make friends," she said in her defence. So even though Kapoor Khan may have outlasted a fair number of fellow heroines in her 13 years in the movie business, her juniors should stop holding their breath if they're longing for a good word from Triple K.

When asked point blank by Ranbir Kapoor whether she was fond of Aishwariya Rai's work, Kapoor Khan notably picked Rai's performances in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Josh, films that were released before she made her own debut with Refugee, in 2000. Then, after she reluctantly said she "loved" Alia Bhatt in Student of the Year, she admitted she had "mixed feelings" about Bhatt comparing herself to her. A final potshot was left for Sonakshi Sinha for whom she chose the alternate "career" of "housewife", because she "just gives that nice vibe". We think Kareena should have just gone all the way and said it with a song, specifically this one. The one exception was Deepika Padukone, who she singled out for her role in Cocktail. Then again the film was co-produced by and starred her husband Saif Ali Khan so maybe Kareena was just taking one for the team.

Ranbir Kapoor Has Enrolled In The Shah Rukh Khan School Of Diplomacy
Ranbir Kapoor seems to be mastering the art of saying things with an absolute sense of conviction without meaning any of it at all. Apart from his admission-through-silence tactic, Kapoor also went on to large-heartedly say that "I'm all for tongue in cheek humour; it's not that I felt bad, not that I was hurt," when asked about how he took Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's now-infamous Ranbir-bashing on the last season of KWK. In the rapid fire segment however he was quick to get his own back at the pair, saying that he'd cast them to star in a Bollywood remake of Hollywood film Mean Girls, and ranked Katrina Kaif a better actress than Padukone and Priyanka Chopra and placed Sonam Kapoor the last. Now the jury may still be out on Sonam Kapoor's acting skills, but even Kareena Kapoor, who has never hidden her disdain for Chopra, ranked her at the top of her list. And while Padukone and Kaif started out in Bollywood with the same amount of expressions in their kitty (i.e. one), few would deny that Padukone has improved greatly as an actress in the last couple of years while Kaif's chops have...well, to put it politely, continued to be inversely proportional to her good looks.

Somebody Will Reveal What Lies Beneath KJo's Sheets Before The End Of Season 4
He may grill his Bollywood besties about their personal lives but KJo has steadfastly declared that he will not answer any questions about his own. But like in seasons past, we will keep receiving hints about where the director's interests lie. Like for instance when he said to Kareena Kapoor Khan, "I check out every bit of your body", a comment that could only sound sleazy no matter what the context. Coming from the mouth of Johar, however, the line provoked not a slap but a nonchalant "You're allowed to", from Kapoor Khan. Later, when Johar told Ranbir Kapoor that he sounded like he had "a little crush" on Aamir Khan, the latter's reaction was to pose the same question to his host. To which Johar somewhat defensively replied, "I did not." But perhaps the most telling sign that Johar doesn't put his money where his movies are came after Ranbir Kapoor said that his parents have been cool with all his relationships, "as long as it's a girl" - the remark led KJo to turn a shade of pink matching Kapoor Khan's dress. Call us hypocrites but that, Ranbir, was a low blow.

BULLSHIT FACTOR
Kareena Kapoor 5/10
Ranbir Kapoor 8/10
Karan Johar 7/10

P.S. Oh I love Mumbai Boss!! 🤣

So we're reviewing Koffee with Karan too now? Unbelievable... and I thought reviewing movie trailers was ridiculous. What's next? Are you going to post an in-depth review on Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor's walk or on the way they talk? 😛 😆
