^Yeah Kangana's expression when DP mentioned that was like "well, I dont get constant ad offers/photoshoots based on my beauty during times when my movies are duds"😆

Rishi Kapoor said he gave his first screen test for Agneepath, and he debuted well...a long time ago. So I wonder, besides the newbies, if anyone even does screen tests in BW😆

^I know, that's why I left she was out of place. Most of the beauty queens get things handed to them on a platter and don't have to audition, face rejection or do screen tests. Most of them do "chemistry tests" but I feel like Deepika should have understood that she's probably the only one there that gets so many endorsement deals from the 4 of them. I'm not saying she's wrong, but Kangana didn't have that option so when she says that for an actor their choice in films is the most important thing, it's a bit distasteful and insensitive. Kangana looked truly annoyed. As did Vidya when she made the weight comment and the whole I didn't give a screen test. 😆

Oh well, I still like her. But newfound respect for Kangana. Her method acting bit was funny too.

Loved Kangana's honesty. Vidya was great, too, and looked gorgeous.

I like Deepika, but I think she doesn't realise that not all actresses have multiple money-making opportunities open to them, so unlike her, they don't have the luxury of being picky about movies.

Deepika was not being judgmental. Rajeev asked the actresses their own opinions about doing films for money, etc. And Deepika in turn answered by giving her own opinion on the matter. By the way both Deepika and Vidya stated that they don't believe in doing films solely for the money. Deepika has been very blessed in the good looks, height, charisma, and sex appeal departments and is making the most of it just like everyone else in the business. The fact is that the entertainment business is built on talent, good looks(sex appeal), and onscreen charisma.

Movies in general are a very visual medium so good looks and being photogenic will always heavily be in demand especially if you want to be a lead actor/actress. Bagging top endorsements is based on good looks, star power, and fame all of which Deepiak has. If companies are readily signing her up to endorse their products then that is how it is. It is not Deepika nor any other actresses fault for whatever hardships Kangana, Vidya, etc had in their careers. After all Deepika nor any other actress have made up the rules. I also think Deepika more than anyone deserved to be at the actresses roundtable for all that she achieved in 2013. So she was not out of place. Not all actresses have the same journey, opinions, or experiences so Deepika helped round out that very difference in the roundtable discussion in my opinion.

But DP did clarify that its a different matter if you're not comfortable with putting yourself out there by other means asides acting to earn money, so that Kangana wouldn't be offended. :S

She may have a different career graph than the other 3, who were credited for their acting in their 1st movie but like others have said her struggles have been of another kind- establishing herself as an actress in the true sense. And she deserves to be there just as much as the other 3, the variety was intended as a way to provide different perspectives. The episode would have been on a one-note if they merely talked about the challenges in getting through the audition.

This year was not Vidya's which is why it was all the more annoying to see her hogging the limelight. Nimrat, Kangana, DP, all had breakout performances this year which should have reflected in the screen time, somewhat. Nimrat was especially sidelined.

Yes agree with you all. Hence I said she's not wrong at all, but I felt that way she answered when clearly Kangana already said she had to b/c she doesn't dance at functions was a tiny bit harsh. I wish she hadn't stress the whole film choices being the most important for an actor b/c going off of Kangana face--clearly she wasn't happy. I think even Kangana knows that but after being a National Award winning actor she still had to sit at home. She's not a conventional beauty and has no connections and so she sat at home. She didn't have the options people like Deepika or even Aish would get. All I'm saying is that there's a way to say things and Deepika came off too strong for me. I really felt like she was out of place. Her struggles aren't the same b/c she was sort of offered things from the beginning and had way more to choose from.

All that being said, I never called her judgmental or said it was her fault. This truly was her year but I think it's only for others to know that not everyone has the privilege of choice.

What did DP say about weight that offended Vidya? I think I missed that bit, she said something about being the fat chubby kid after kangana commented on DP's beauty.

Well I don't think Deepika came off harsh or judgmental. So my perception is different. Deepika gave her own personal opinion in a straight forward and sorted manner. Her opinion was just as valid as the others. It is what it is. Also again it is not Deepika's or anyone's fault or responsibility that Kangana is not a conventional beauty, had to sit at home, had a tough career, and does not feel comfortable doing other things(besides bad films) for money. Should Deepika, Ash, and the boatload of other actresses who were models, beauty queens, etc. feel guilty and hang there heads because they bag top films, endorsements, etc? No way! Criticise the system not the actresses who did not make up the rules in the system. Deepika and other actresses like herself may have had a different journey than some other actresses but they have had to work just as hard to continue to make it in Bollywood.

Deepika has worked extremely hard to become a top actress. No actress no matter how their journey started out can make it to the top and stay there in Bollywood without lots and lots of hard work. Everyone has struggles, disappointments, and pain in life. Just because Deepika did not have the exact same struggles as the others does not make her struggle or pain in her career/life any less important, valid, or significant. Not all actresses have the same journey or experiences which is as it should be. And in my opinion Deepika had every right to be at the roundtable as she had a phenomenal year in both critical acclaim and box office success. The criteria of being included in the roundtable discussions was not about the actresses hardships or struggles. The criteria for being included was picking which actresses had the most dynamic year for 2013 of which Deepika had more than earned her spot tenfold to be included in the discussions.

No the funniest was when DP said her parents weren't surprised she wanted to be an actor.

Kangana: "Ya pfft! If I looked (points towards DP) If I looked like THAT!

Ya I want to be a supermodel? People will say, of cooourse!!"

A lot of fun! Great discussion. 👍🏼 Vidya is witty, Kangana is refreshing, Nimrat is likeable and Deepika is sweet.

All four have different personalities, I don't see why anyone should get hate for that. Deepika is generally a bit shy and she spoke well. Not everyone has to have an opnion on everything. I bet you if she spoke a lot the same people who say how overconfident she is etc etc 😆.

I do think Deepika is more than deserving to be there, she's gotten 4 hits with critical acclaim in a single year. I do agree that she got her first big break much easier than the others but her struggle started then.
