Sanjaya Malakar, one of the contestant in Americaon Idol is a subject of lead news of American Idol.

I was initially very happy to see an Indian kid competing. His sister did not reach in Final 12 of girls. Where as he is still surviving and not even once been to the bottom three inspite of his worst performances. He does have a sweet voice and trained too. Yet seems he is not fully ready as others are performing much beter.

He seems to be popular in young girls (His hair is making him more popular😆 then his singing)

Also peopel seem to believe that a large Asain community is voting for him. I really hope that is not the case. He is getting tremendous publicity for being the worst singer int he present lot.

As per me , the girls are far better singer then the boys. The top twelve of girls was lot more better then top 12 of the boys.

Now the question is, Is Sanjaya going to make it till last?

Yes with 50000 indian cousins voting day and night and the sicilian mafia behind him not to forget the little gals charade he should spring surprise after surprise...sadly though he didnt even deserve to be in the top 12....but thats just moi opinion... Truth is stranger than opnions...😆

www.americanidol.com

for more info on him
Qwerty that is what I fear that he might be getting advantage of Indian community. But do we really need to be biased based on his performance and are we blocking the future competition as it may relay the message that once you have a Indian kid, he or she will win no matter what and hence when the matters are within judges hand, they may not promote an Indian kid.
Although I still will prefer him not to quit. his choice of song is also not good. I just hope he is not blindly supported.

Ofcourse My POV 😛

I completely agree qwerty ( u still alive, right 😳?)
and yes, also add VOIPs calling day and night from India and also VFTW in his support. He'll probably make it to top 7.
India is a country of OVER-ABUNDANT talent. It is sad that of all these out of the world younger talents we have, SM gets to in a way represent us .

I do applaud him for being the 1st 1/2 Indian to win a ticket to hollywood in am american reality show. I hope some REAL TALENTS follow and do something to make us really proud 😉. Mediocrity does not get my vote just for being a kin.

I used to argue before that these music shows should promote real talent. But these days "real" is overrated. Sanjeev or someone I forgot his name, won last year's Indian Idol only because of his state voting for him 24/7 but is that the only reason. If we analyze there were so many who liked him for his innocence, his smile, his pleasant nature. If we compare two actors Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan, the former keeps a low profile and hardly reaches out to the public. He makes outstanding performances but then why is latter's movies always top grosser? If it was just acting skills then Naseeruddin Shah would have been the superstar. The west is no different either. Unless one reaches out to the audience they can't become famous. Even the winners like Sanchita in little champs had support from her state. So can regionism be spared when a "real" talent is the winner?

Why Sanjaya is still on AI?

1. Because of his teen, innocent appeal to all teenage girls.

2. Indian, Italian and gay voting.

3. He comes across as a soft spoken, sweet natured guy.

4. Pity votes because his voice is still in thte changing phase and shrills.

5. Negative publicity.

I know none is the criteria for him to stay this long but then don't all of us have different views when it comes to definition of talent? It was clear from a recent thread on 'overhyped people in the industry' and what was overated for some was aptly rated and underrated for others.😳

I might sound selfish and a hypocrite but if it was my kin then I would want to see him a winner. I would definitely vote for him no matter what. 😳😳

I think I am right to believe he is not you kin and I am happy about that 😆😆😆. I truly wish he had something better than the ones who left before him.
about kin, you are right, it is easier said that done - (digressing a bit) - i was unfortunately judging a poster presentation and had to give my niece 2nd prize, not first. You are right. I cried within doing that ( It had a $ 500 prize money involved to make matters worse). Since then, I never went to judge any poster competetion that would involve a relative. Now she is grown up, and understands my VP, but it was a bit messy for a while between me and her mom.

QT, I appreciate your honesty👏. I don't know what I would have done in such a situation. There are times when heart takes over mind.
