I guess her family knew before only that she might lose her dignity in the house and told her so.
Unfortunately she did lose her dignity not only with those late nights under the blanket scenes but also by acting as a doormat and talking to Armaan in language that had double meaning..she thinks that the audience is stupid and wouldn't understand..
How much ever she convinces herself that she didn't do anything wrong the world got the picture of her overall personality.
