First things first.
Rudra is VULNERABLE. The ruthless iron pumping action, the bloodshed , the silent curtains, non-reaction to authority are Rudra's fortress of defence. Behind that lies, an extremely vulnerable boy... whose otherwise stern and lifeless face goes through a millisecond spasm of pain when the dead bodies of his men reflect in his Ray Bans , his fists clench in reaction when he sees the state of the brave martyrs. His face crumbles and his hardcore intense eyes melt into an invisible pool the moment Beerpur is mentioned to him...
He doesn't want you to see it , he hides it behind self-proclaimed cruelty and the anger he vents on everything and everyone that comes in his way. But he feels... infact, he feels too much. And people who feel too much are often tragic tales of misplaced temper and a self-imposed revenge purgatory.
Rudra is not the man of Paro's or anyone's dreams . Infact , his CO even doubts his humanity when he looks at the bloodbath that Rudra has done single-handedly. He is not the soft spoken , kind , compassionate, loving poet whose dreams Thakurain Aunty was weaving in for a blushing Paro. Forget marriage. Paro would burst into flames if she was to even stand within inches of Rambo, i mean, Rudra. Rudra symbolizes all that is fiery, temperamental, insane , ruthless , judgmental , extreme and almost villainous. Why will anyone love him? Why will anyone marry him? Why will someone invest an entire life in trying to find that vulnerable boy behind the tight jawline and the harsh eyes? ... In all sanity , NOBODY will. But wait a second, when has love been sane in any case? 😆
The writers highlight the iron hand of fate and how whatever man proposes, fate just laughs it off. Providence is carved in stone and our path is written in the stars. The writers juxtapose Paro's, Bindi's and Thakurain's Yash Chopra Movie dreams of a SRK-with-Violin against the harsh reality of Rudra and how he has been written in Paro's fate long ago. That how all of Paro's purity , innocence and beauty will find no William Wordsworth to write odes for her. Instead, she will be put to test of fire where she will not GET love, she will have to EARN love - that too from a man who hates the spelling of 'FEELINGS'. Its almost like smashing a waterfall against a mountain... but maybe that is the beauty of it all - a waterbody smashed into a mountain - paves her way and carves a route in the mountain - and she becomes part of it. Hence, what is applicable to nature , is applicable to us.
Tomorrow, Rudra is headed towards Beerpur - all his septics ripped open , the desertion of a mother , the iron words of a father , an inflicted prejudice against beautiful women RETURNING. If only Paro knew, that its not a poet , but a wolf who is going to boomerang into her life. But this wolf is no from the Red Riding Hood. He will not hunt you in a jungle. He will guide you home - home... where you are meant to be. You may have left your Rudraksh at home, but its ok. From now on, you will be caged... and protected in his fortress. Quite an oxymoron, but that's your fate.
For the rest, i don't think Thakurain Aunty is very gung-ho about her husband's constant bashing of BSD and instigation of villagers. The Paro-Maamisa scene was lovely - wish Paro is able to maintain this compassion against Rudra's emotional pseudo-illiteracy.
Sorry, Paro. Tumhaari kismat mein Romeo nahin... RAMBO HAI!
P.S. - There is something that I have always loved about Aashish's face. Its a very strong and intense face , but when it crumbles into vulnerability , he looks like a baby-in-danger. Fits Rudra to the T.
