CHAPTER 4:

It was early evening time the sun was taking a leave, ... Jodha was getting ready, just than HB and salima walked in the room to see how the new bride is looking in New Lehenga which Jalal has choosen for her since Jalal never took a burden of choosing a dress and jewellery for any of his begum not even for ruquaiyya, HB knew that Jalal has got special interest on this Begum, even though HB was not happy but a thought of waaris to sultanate made her like this new Begum as Both ruquaiyya and salima were unable to give them a waaris to sultanate, HB was really impressed to see her new Bahu, she was masha allah out of world beauty to describe,

"hum nahin janthe the aap par ae hara rang itna khilega, Jalal ne khas kar ise aapkeliye chuna, masha allah, aapko hamari hi nazar lag jayegi".

Saying this she put a kaala teeka behind Jodhas ears...

Salima saw that Jodha has not put her Maang tikka yet and helped her in this...

Being a bride of the jashn, Jodha seems to be not happy, HB could read her eyes till now Jodha has not spoken her heart out other than just giving a faint smile when anyone approached her, HB could read her eyes...

She held Jodhas shoulders and asked her to look in her eyes

"Jodha Begum hamari aur dekhiye aur bathayiye", are you not happy with your marriage with Jalal, Jodha widened her eyes with a shock, and immediately she became alert that her eyes speak a lot than her words her mother was correct Jodha had got a beautiful eyes where her emotions could be easily read through her eyes..

"nahin, hum bahuth kush hai is rishtey se"..

"tho teek hai, salima Begum inhe jaldi DEK maein le ayiyega, hum Jalal ko dekh kar aathe hain"...

She calpped her hands and called some daasis who were standing outside for HB signal, they all walked in with lots of flowers with them..

"jaise jodha begum jashn ke liye niklegi aap is kamre ko saja dijiyega, aur yaad rakhiye humeain kisi tarah ki kami nazar nahin aana chahiye"

Jodha was shaken back from what she heard from HB, and looked at Moti Bai...in a shock...salima observed Jodhas uneasiness through corner of her eyes and thought in her mind not to ask anything from Jodha Begum as this may create a problem to her..

Salima asked Jodha whether she know the rituals of Mughals Nikah ceremony Jodha nodded no..

Salima explained her how the nikah ceremony is being done at Mughal culture and how she need to say Qubool hai to the groom... JOdha just nodded again saying yes, by this time salima understood what was in Jodhas heart and mind... she just looked in to Jodhas eyes and told her

"Jodha Begum, hum apko nahin janthe, nahin patha aap kyun kush nahin hai is rishtey se, lekin itna jaanthe hai ki ab aap shehenshah is Begum hai, aur is rishtey ko aapko har haal maein nibhaana hoga, chahe aap chahthi hai ya nahi, yahi har aurath ki karthavya hothi hai...shehensha ek acche insaan hai, bas nazariye ki farak hai, aapko apni shohar par yakeen rakhni chahiye"

Lets go Jodha Begum we need to be ontime to the Jashn...salima Begum and Ruquaiyya Begum joined together on the way to get jodha to the nikha

She was welcomed by HB, and other ladies, the khazi saab read out the nikah naama to the gathering and askd jalal whether he agrees to marry jodha as his begum.. a loud and clear Qubool hai came out from groom side, all the gathering seems to be happy, the khaji saab asked jodha and she nodded yes, and HB announced saying yes...

The nikah was done, and jalal saw her glimpse behind the curtains,,, a beautiful bride a mesmerizing beauty sitting just a half a distance away from his reach...

The jashn started and Jodha sat behind the curtains and saw the jashn of mughals but she was not in this world she was in her thoughts how to accept Jalaluddin Mohammad as her husband tonight, the jashn was still on when Ruquaiyya Begum walked up to Jodha and patted on her shoulders saying that she need to go to her room now as Jalal will be coming to her room toninght and ordered hoshiyaar and Moti to take her to their room and make arrangements for jalals stay in Jodhas room for the night... JODha was in a shock, but it was a reality, it was not a nightmare for her...

Jodha followed Hoshiyaar and Moti was along with her, and told Jodha to be strong ... Jalal saw Jodha leaving the Jashn and smiled to himself, and he got out of jashn, and made his way in to harem, and Ruquaiyya Joined him on the way and Jalal smiled at her,

"jalal aap itni kush hain aaj, I never saw you so haapy when you brought so many begums to harem before".

Ruquaiyya Begum "mujhe kahin jalne ki boo aa rahi hai, (it annoyed Ruq, and made jalal smile at her), aapko jodha begum acchi nahin lagi shayad"

"nahin jalal, hum nahin janthe the ki aap ek hindu shehjaadi ko apni begum banayenge, who bhi ek maamuli si amer ke liye, aap bandhi banake tho la sakthe the"

"Ruquaiyy Begum, I would have brought her as Baandhi, but I would have not got her in my arms if I aksed her hand as a bandhi, she is a shehzaadi of Rajvanshis, if I tried to make her as my baandhi whole Rajvanshis would have become one against mughal sultanate so I played a game of this marriage to get their relation, trust and a beautiful begum as a wife, now even if they wish to destroy mughals they cannot as I am their son in law, I got hold of many Rajavanshis by marrying Jodha, and I married her to get a hold on her and to rule her emotions, to rule over her independence"

Ruquaiyya let me go my new begum will be waiting for me I don't want to make her wait for long...

Jodha sat on the king size bed waiting for jalal she was not sure whether to give him his husbandly rights on her, Mainavathis words rang in her ears..."maasa is right I need to obey him he is my pati parameshwar, its his right, but what about my self respect, the way he looks at me is unbearable, he just lusts over my body nothing else, he does not have respect for a women, I am just a matter of pleasure for one night for him, he said that day, and he meant it, and today he got all the rights on me, he can do anything with me, I hate that day when I met him, why did I go out of palace that day, if I had listened to maasa and stayed back in palace, shehensha would have not seen me, nor he would have married me, its all my mistake..."

Just than Jodha heard jalals foot steps, she made the ghoonghat long than before and tried to be calm and sat as a rock with fear in her eyes and tried to control the rushing tears...

Jalal was happy to see the decorations in the room and was happy to see his new Begum sitting in middle of king sized bed, he just went near the bed and took a glass filled it with a madira ras (drinks) and sat with it on bed to the left of Jodha and started sipping it with a smirk, his eyes were eying only jodha, he could easily make out that she was scared and was In fear for his nearness...Jodha dint move a inch nor she tried to see him..Jalal was very happy to see Jodha in fear...

"jodha Begum, aap aaj bahuth khoobsoorath lag rahi hai, humaein accha laga ki aap hamareliye tayyar baiti hai, aur aapka darr humaein lekar who humaein jyada accha laga, aapko patha hai na hum aapke shauhar hai aur aap hamari begum, hamara madira pan khatam hogayi hai, jaayiye humari seva kijiye"

Jodha just got up from bed went near the table and brought the container near jalal and he stretched his arms to fill his glass and jodha readily filled it... Jalal had his glass and told her I am really tiered now, press my legs now as I had to take a long ourney from amer so I dint get time to get my massage from daasis, as you are my wife now and I am your husband you have to take care of all my needs so ...

Jodha obliged all Jalals demands and pressed his legs, Jalal was nearly happy to see the girl beneath his legs who once had courage to challenge him, dint had a voice to raise to protest his demands...

Jodhas tension was raising when Jalal asks physical rights how will she fulfill her duty against her wish..Jalal was enjoying to see the tension raising in Jodhas face...

Jalal wanted to play with her now... "jodha Begum, ab hamara paer(leg) teek hai, aap yahan ayiye pointing to right side of his bed... ayiye jodha begum aaj hamara suhag raath hai, hum aaj raath ke liye poore do mahine intezaar kiya hai jaanthi hai na aap who din"

Jodha knew what he was saying...she rememberd the day when she first met Jalal in Amer outskirts,,,, the day her fate changed...

"jodha begum kya soch rahi hain, humne aapko paane ke liye Amer lauta diya aapke walid sahib ko, lekin aap abhi tak soch hi rahi hai apne aaapko humaein saupne ke liye"

Tears rushed out of her eyes, yes he is asking his rights now, the rights which he got on me now... But I am Rajvanshi Rajkumari, I wont surrender myself to any man who wins over the rights on me just to get my body...she gathered a courage to speak up...before that Jalal held her left hand and pulled her over him with Jodha lying on top of Jalal with fear in her eyes, jalal could not get her view so he took his right hand and removed her ghoonghat and Jodha tried to free herself from his clutch but he held her hand still more tightly, and rolled over her, with Jodha beneath him...

they had a eyelock for a second, but Jodha wanted to get out his hold, but more she tried more jalal tightened his grip around her...
