Common factor between Vicky, Maan, n Geet is Adi coz I don't remember Daadi or Maan's mother knowing about Geet... It's Adi speaking to Vicky but it could also be possible seeing Vicky walk out Daadi might have come in search of him and talk and realize Maan and Geet should be married 😳

Chapter 22

Vicky came up to Geet's cabin to find it empty. Adi hand wondered where Geet might be, too. They knocked on her apartment and a worried Riya opened the door.

"Is Geet home? It's just she never is late for work."

"She has fever. I don't know when she came back yesterday evening or today morning. I found her sleeping on the couch."

They came in and Adi touched her forehead. She was burning. They decided to call the doctor.

"She has extremely high fever. If it doesn't go down quick it will be dangerous. She would be better off in a hospital." Vicky called Raj and asked him to get the car ready. He lifted Geet and put her into the car. He was feeling guilty; she was in this state because of him.

Maan knew Vicky was on his way to MC. He had been furious at Vicky for his behaviour at the dining table and set his mind in getting him to apologise. He saw Vicky coming out, carrying Geet and putting her in Sohan's car. The usual guy drove them away. Maan followed them and was a little surprised to see them at a hospital. He entered shortly after them. Vicky was talking to the doctor and Raj was outside Geet's room while the nurses changed her clothes. Maan was standing a littler further always so he wouldn't be seen by. A Doctor came and looked at Geet. She was the same one that had seen her after the miscarriage. After she left Vicky sat next to his friend. Geet was sleeping and Vicky gently caressed her hands. After a while he thought it would be best to come back at a later time. Muskaan, who had been given leave by Geet as she was on vacation as well returned as soon as she heard about her didi. She was going to enter Geet's cabin when she saw some one inside already.

Geet was restless in her sleep. Maan was standing next of her just looking. He felt a strong urge to hold her hand but let go as soon as he felt the temperature.

"Vicky" was all Geet was mumbling in her sleep. Maan wondered why he felt so bad about Geet and Vicky. He liked Geet, after so long he actually wanted to be with a girl. Geet was special. Now there was Vicky. If it would have been any random guy Maan wouldn't have thought twice about getting rid of him. But after seeing Vicky's outburst today for Geet made him think. He gave Geet another look and left. Muskaan saw the retreating figure of Maan. She wondered what he was doing here. She didn't have a high opinion of him; after all he fired her for coming one minute late. She texted Vicky and told him.

Vicky read the text.

"Why can't bhai leave her alone?" He wanted to go to his brother and talk but not now. He neither wanted to create a drama at MC nor at KC. And he wasn't going home either.

At home everyone was in deep thought.

"I am sure someone has done black magic on my son" Divya said. She was an educated woman but still a little superstitious.

"Stop this none sense Divya" her husband said irritated.

"Vicky did his internship at MC maybe that is why he likes it there so much." Dev suggested.

"Why wasn't he at KC?"

"We received his application too late and bro rejected it immediately" Dev answered Dadi.

"I don't care what you do Shashank, but I want my son back home." Divya said. Everyone wanted him home but who could get him to return? They had seen Maan rush off after Vicky, he surely wasn't the right person. Vicky was closely attached to Dadi hence she suggested to talk to him once he cools down.

Dadi called MC as Savitry Devi and asked for Vicky. She was informed that he was currently not at the office and would return later. She asked about his exact whereabouts and when she mentioned being his Dadi got the address. She wondered why Vicky was at a hospital. The receptionist didn't tell her room number or name of the patient hence she just looked at every ward. She spotted him entering a room.

"Look Mr Khurana, I told you before. A miscarriage is not to be taken lightly. She was weak then and I can see absolutely no improvement in her health. If this continues she will start having various other problems, some of which may be long term. I strongly advise you to take care of her and make sure she eats properly and take plenty of rest. She is still young and can recover well if proper care is taken."

The doctor said strictly to Vicky.

"I know doctor, but problem is she never listens. All there is on her mind is work. But I am going to make sure she listens to me this time. I can't have her falling ill like this all the time." The doctor nodded and checked on Geet's forehead. There was an improvement but the temperature was still too high.

Dadi saw the doctor come out. She had heard the part about the miscarriage but was not ready to jump to any conclusions.

"Vicky beta."

"Dadi, you, here?" Vicky got up.

"What are you doing here Vicky and who is this girl." Vicky looked at Geet and then back at his Dadi.

"She is my friend Dadi"

"Just friend?"

"What makes you ask that?"

"I heard about the miscarriage." Vicky sighed. His Dadi, he knew, would hear him out. Maybe one person would actually try and understand him. As Geet was sleeping he took his Dadi to the other end of the room.

"Sit Dadi. Let me tell you about Geet." Vicky told Dadi about Geet being Sohan Mishra's widow and how she had struggled with the company. He explained about her miscarriage a few weeks after joining and how her health deteriorated. Vicky paused and continued. He explained how Geet ended up being Maan's secretary for some time. Dadi was stunned as Geet being the MD of MC was working as a secretary. Vicky smiled.

"Dadi, Geet is very professional. She could have misused all confidential details but never did. More over she is the kind that would even help her enemy if he was in need."

"I wonder how Maan let her still work at KC knowing she worked at MC simultaneously." Vicky looked at his Dadi and carefully said:

"I think bhai has a thing for her." His Dadi's head shot up.

"What makes you say that?" He narrated all the incidents when Maan was curious and jealous about him and Geet and how he had reacted when Vicky had provoked him. Dadi was in thought.

"How much does Maan know about Geet?"

"Not sure. He doesn't know she is the MD of MC, I don't think he knows she was married and I doubt he knows she had a miscarriage. It is only Adi, Pinky and me who know other than her." Dadi was troubled. After so long Maan had shown interest in a girl but this were not normal circumstances. She had lost her husband at an early stage, too and knew how difficult it was to cope. From what Vicky told her Geet seemed a very nice girl. But how would she react to the idea? Dadi didn't want to rush.

"Vicky what do you think about Maan and Geet?" He was startled.

"Like?"

"Like them marrying."

"Oh no Dadi, very bad idea. I really like Geet and she deserves some one much better than Maan bhai." Dadi gave him a look.

"I mean he is short tempered and likes the world to run under his command. Geet likes to have her own way, too and this is only going to lead to difficulties." But Dadi's mind was set. She first wanted to talk to Geet and see how much she had left her past behind her. Maan had a hard time, too, in life; they both had at least on common ground.

"Vicky, you are coming home with me." she said getting up.

"Sorry Dadi, but I have to set things right with Geet. I just can't tolerate some one talking ill about her or MC. I have seen her all these weeks and she only deserves praises." Dadi understood his outburst at the dining table. Maan has surely provoked him and Maan did it because he was hurt, too. She had to do something first. Maybe it was better if Vicky was to stay away from home for a few days.

"Where are you going to stay?"

"I have a place with my friends." He lied.

"Ok, let me know as Geet recovers, I want to talk to her." She left.

Chapter 23

Later the day Geet woke up. Vicky was apologising and scolding her at the same time. Geet smiled and looked at her friend.

"It is alright Vicky."

"No Geet. I am really sorry. I realised that it must have hurt you a lot. The reason I didn't tell you was because I didn't want to be treated differently. Every time I go somewhere I am Vikrant Singh Khurana but I like being Vicky."

"I understand. I like to be Geet, too and not Mrs Sohan Mishra." They chatted for a while and the doctor checked on her. Geet's temperature had gone down now but she advised her to stay in hospital over night.

"Geet, I need to tell you something." Vicky had decided to tell Geet everything and not hide it from her.

"Are you crazy Vicky? You can't just leave home because your family was talking ill about me or MC. So many people do that are you going to stop everyone?"

"I don't know about everyone but Maan bhai said too much. He knows you well enough to know you could never spy."

"He was angry. Probably because I quit the job although he didn't want me to."

Vicky knew this wasn't the actual reason but did not tell Geet. She might take it wrong.

"And where are you going to stay now?"

"Don't know. I'll look for some place today." Geet shook her head.

"No Vicky, I kind of feel responsible for your situation now. You will stay at MC. I still have a free room." Vicky raised his brow.

"I trust you my friend. Go stay there. And you can keep an eye on Riya and Armaan."

Vicky was overwhelmed by Geet's trust in him. After all she had a young sister-in-law at home. When Vicky reached MC he found a bag with his belongings at the reception. Dadi', he thought. Muskaan was with Riya and Armaan. She had wanted to check on both as her didi was not there. They had great fun. Riya told her about her time at hostel and she played with Armaan all his favourite video games. Vicky knocked on the door and Riya opened.

"Hi Riya, I kind of am staying here now" he said a little embarrassed. He explained in as little detail as possible how Geet asked him to stay. Armaan was extremely happy. Now he had some one to permanently play with.

Pinky saw DD enter office. She and Adi kept constant contact. Adi had seen DD in MC for the second time now. Pinky wondered why DD was so interested in Geet. Did he like her? She found it hard to believe, especially after Samira. But she knew he was impressed by her work. One just had to. Adi had on many occasions told Pinky how much Geet had worked on getting MC back up. She was even more impressed after she learned that Geet had never done commerce before but was from science stream.

Now even Riya and Armaan were back so she would hopefully cheer up. That is, if DD didn't do something. She had known Maan as Adi's friend before he was her boss. She knew how he could be at times and the fact that he had fired his own friend didn't improve his image with Pinky.

"Pinky, come with me" Pinky followed him to his office.

"Sit" Maan folded his hands and tried to chose the right words.

"Look, I know you are Geet's friend. Did you know she worked at MC while she worked for me, too?" Pinky gulped. She had feared this.

"Yes Sir."

"Why did you never tell me?" she didn't answer.

"Ok, tell me. How is Geet, I mean personally? I know she is a good worker but how is she otherwise?" Pinky felt uneasy by these questions. So he did like her, did he?

"She is really nice. I only know her through Adi. And since we both work full time we hardly talk much." Maan nodded.

"Why are you asking sir?" Pinky questioned him.

"I just wanted to know." He said diplomatically.

"Sir, can I say something if you don't mind" Maan nodded. Pinky took all her courage together and said:

"Geet is a strong person. From what I have seen she can endure quite a lot, but there are things that can make her break down and I am not sure how far she will recover. It will be best if we let her alone." Maan understood what Pinky was hinting at.

"I do not want to harm her Pinky."

"You don't want to but you still do it unintentionally." She was hinting at Adi.

"I am sorry for that. I know I am wrong." Pinky was stunned at his apology.

"I think Adi would feel nice to hear it. You should call him" Pinky exited the cabin and returned to her post. She had made a point of telling Adi about everything that went on in KC but she kept her little conversation to herself this time.

Dadi was home. She told her family that Vicky would be staying away for a few days but will return as soon he calmed down again. She also had met Geet. Savitry Devi was impressed big time. There was a young girl so full of energy even after everything she had gone through. Geet had touched her feet when she heard she was Vicky's Dadi. She was polite and very well mannered. Dadi didn't make her feel as if she was there because of Maan but rather Vicky. After her meeting Dadi was convinced that Geet indeed was suitable for Maan. She was different and just what Maan needed in his life.
