Yatra Nariyaha pujyante ! Ramante tatra Devataha !!...(Where WOMEN are respected, GODS make their HOME)

Ardho Ha Va esha atmano jaya !!
(A woman is half part of a man)

Na Griham Grihamityahu, Grihini Grihamuchate !
(A house becomes HOME because of the WOMAN (wife) occupying it)

Naturally, the women had complete authority over the management of the household as well. The modern word of "Home-Maker"
MAN's life is not complete until he gets a wife and lives happily by treating and respecting her as his equal, nay, his other-half.The couple in their wisdom, called that most important concept of "FAMILY" as a chariot and equated MAN & WOMAN as its two wheels.
Therefore, the WOMEN due to their inherent biological nature, weaker physical structure than men and child-bearing ability were trained and encouraged to get education in the art of HOME MANAGEMENT or SOFTER PURSUITS (As I had said this was not a rule but was a COMMON WISDOM of the era considering WOMAN's physical / biological structure.). The ultimate objective was always to create HAPPY FAMILY and ultimately a VIBRANT CHARACTER ORIENTED SOCIETY.
As can be seen, in VEDIC India WOMEN held special status and respect in the society. The ancient VEDIC society envisioned WOMEN as a free-spirited individuals and as NOT merely sexual objects. They knew how to balance freedom against the natural biological boundaries drawn by the nature for MEN & WOMEN. They also knew if this fine balance was not maintained how adversely it may impact the society with ill effects.
Similarly WOMEN were treated as noble, holy, respectable individuals and equal-half of MEN . Further women were looked upon as MOTHERS, SISTERS and HOME-MAKERS guiding and contributing in training of their young off-springs into becoming responsible, character-based citizens of tomorrow's society.

So true madhu. Such a meaningful shloka . The woman in the above pics from both families are so different from each other. The family of kirloskars where the ladies are given rights to make decision in life and are respected . Ajju being elder of the family from the Older generation never feels woman are less then men and always treated equal where as Anjali has always said men are always superior then woman though she like it herself or not but always implemented it in her household. These elder ladies of both family have a different opinion and they stand like two different poles.
Ajju helped kalindi to start a fresh life but Anjali always says jyoti to compromise of surrender for hubby and his family. Their two different ways to face the abuse of woman in their own lives.

Man and woman are truly two wheels of the chariot called life who have to balance each other . This is what I feel we are seeing right now between shlok and astha. Woman need freedom and respect in the society to have a healthy community. These pics show the characters of each individuals of these families.

Nice pics madhu. I would differ in one point, women need equality not special status/respect. I don't think women ever enjoyed an equal place with men in India or anywhere else. In all our epics and in the history books, all we see is atrocities against women.
What I am saying is, kritayug, tretayug, dwaparyug are not better than kaliyug for women at least. Now is the time for change.
