I thought this would be something a lil fun we could do on India Forums. This is a poll created on the site HindiFilmNews. I just thought why not bring it to IF and see whether who we think is the biggest actress in the last 20 years is the same as the members voting on the site think. Feel free to vote on the site as well.
Right now Kajol is leading on the polls there. Let's see who we think. Here's introducing the nominees.
PS: I could not fit all the actresses in the poll as there are only 10 options. So if you think that Aishwarya, Vidya, Manisha, Raveena, Preity, Karisma, Shilpa, Tabu, Urmila, or Bipasha deserve the vote, please state so.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars ever in Bollywood. She is an international star as well since she acted in few Hollywood movies and she's a regular at Cannes festival. Foreign media has always been very kind to Aishwarya ever since her Miss World win. Aishwarya is known as the most beautiful woman living on this planet. She has several hits in Bollywood to her credit including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Dhoom 3 etc. Right now she is happy being a mother to Aaradhya Bachchan but the fans are eagerly waiting for her return to movies.
Juhi Chawla was one of the biggest stars in her prime and she acted opposite most of the major stars. And she had some of the memorable hits with both Aamir and Shahrukh. Before entering films, she was crowned as Miss India in 1984. She's especially applauded for her impeccable comic timing. Post 2000s she started working in independent and art movies and that move fetched immense appreciation from all quarters.
Though Bipasha never had fancy hits to her credit, she was part of few big hits including Dhoom 2 in the last decade. She is regarded as the ultimate sex symbol of 2000s. Bipasha's stardom lies beyond her movies. She's also done a Hollywood film called Singularity. Above all, she sustained in the industry for more than a decade and that is indication of her star power.
Though Karisma Kapoor struggled a bit in the beginning of her career, she became a top actress towards the end of 90s. She was Number 1 actress with several hits and awards. She won National Award for best supporting actress for her performance in Dil To Pagal Hai. She became the number 1 actress post the mega success of Raja Hindustani in 1996. She also acted in critically acclaimed movies like Fiza and Zubeidaa. She has two children now. She recently tried to come back to movies with Dangerous Ishq; but the movie flopped. Nonetheless, she remains as one of the biggest Bollywood actresses.
Preity Zinta was one of the top actresses of her time. She became a top actress with the success of Kal Ho Naa Ho. She acted in Yash Chopra's Veer-Zaara at the peak of her career. However, her recent film Ishkq In Paris failed to make big at the box office. She is currently busy with her cricket team.
Raveena Tandon was one of the sought after actresses in 90s. She had several hit films and songs to her credit in this period. In 2001 she won national award for her brilliant performance in Daman. She recently became a chat show host with Isi Ka Naam Zindagi (2012).
Manisha Koirala is one of the pretties Bollywood actresses ever. And she was a very successful actress in the 90s. Her association with Mani Ratnam resulted in some of the most memorable films in her career including Bombay and Dil Se. She was going through few personal crisis recently including divorce and stint with cancer. Nonetheless she remains one of the unavoidable presence in the 90s.
Though Shilpa Shetty wasn't an A-list actress with top hits in Bollywood, she was a strong presence throughout in the 90s and she's very active even today. Dhadkan was the high point of her career. But she became an international star with Big Brother UK. After that there was no looking back for her. She appears in movies occasionally these days but she's very active with her dance reality shows and cricket team.
Though Tabu never had those fancy hits in Bollywood, she is one of the most respected actresses in the industry. She is regarded as a powerhouse performer and won National Award twice in her long career. Recently she tasted International success with Hollywood movies like Namesake and Life Of Pi.
Urmila Matondar rose to fame with Rangeela in 2005. She has couple of hit films and songs to her credit and she was a busy actress in late 90s. She's still in the limelight as she is doing reality shows these days.
Vidya Balan is considered as a revolutionary Bollywood actress as her heroine-oriented films The Dirty Picture and Kahaani became super hits at the box office. She was compared to Khans after the release of these films. However, her recent film Ghanchakkar failed at the box office. But Vidya Balan is in her own league and she could surprise us with yet another super-hit film.
Deepika Padukone is the reigning queen of Bollywood right now with four back to back 100 crore movies in 2013 alone! This record is considered to be unbreakable for a long time. She is considered as a rare combination of beauty and talent. She is also known as one of the most versatile actresses ever in Bollywood. She continues to bag prestigious projects even after marriage and recent flop Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. After all, Kareena Kapoor is Kareena Kapoor!
Madhuri Dixit is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood ever. In fact, she is regarded as a complete actress with both mesmerising beauty and impeccable talent. She was the reigning queen in her prime and churned hits one after another in the 90s. The whole nation was smitten by this Dhak Dhak' girl. She's come back to movies and limelight recently after becoming a housewife and mother to two boys. Dedh Ishqiya is her next movie and the trailer has been well received. She has got super hit movies with all the 3 Khans including the recent film Talaash opposite Aamir Khan. However, her recent solo film Aiyyaa failed at the box office. She's currently busy with her next movie, Mardaani.
Kajol is one of the biggest stars India has ever seen! Some of the biggest hits in 90s and early 2000s belong to Kajol. It wasn't just about the hits; she was tremendously appreciated for her performances in all her movies. She's an absolute natural in front of camera and one of the greatest romantic heroines ever in Bollywood. How could someone forget the Simran in DDLJ or Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai? Today, she's settled in life as a housewife and mother. But she acts in movies occasionally and fans are eagerly waiting for her next movie.
