Sansui Award Winners

Even though many Telly stars decided to give the Sansui Television Awards 2007 a skip, the organizers followed the old stage mantra of 'The show must go on.' The television awards took place at Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday evening. The show was kick started with the dance debut of Shekhar Suman which he described as "more trying and challenging than my 1st honeymoon." At the end of the dance Shekhar in his Salman Khan inspired moment took off his jacket to flaunt his new-found muscles.

The jury members consisted of Ashok Pandit, Madhur Bhandarkar, Paresh Rawal and Sudhir Mishra. The award show began with the superficial (makeup and costume) and technical categories. Mostly no-one turned up from the Media awards categories. But the other categories were attended by half the winners. Jennifer Winget of Kasauti Zindagi Ki won two awards in the categories of Best Supporting Actor and Sansui Coolest Face. While accepting the award, she said, "I want to thank my family for whatever they've done for me and also Ekta Kapoor for pampering me so much."

The host Shekhar Suman took a jibe at Daya Shankar when he won Best Actor in a Negative Role for Kituu Sab Jaanti Hain. Daya said, "My first chance to act came when I was cast to play a servant in a rich house. But they rejected me saying I didn't look like a servant, it was a hard experience." To this Shekhar retorted, "Let's thank the sponsors for believing that you deserve to play the role of a servant." Another surprising comment came from Rajesh Khera who attacked Sony Television for their programming, "I'm tired of Sony's redundant programming; it sucks. They need to look at it because I'm tired of it." Khera's comment came during his award acceptance speech for Best Actor in a Negative Role. For the dance performances Rohit Roy made a big entry by coming on stage on his motorcycle whereas Rajeev Khandelwal made his by coming onstage riding a horse.
