You've made viewers wait a lot for your comeback stint. Frankly speaking I've been researching about Arjun for the last 8-9 months. Though I wasn't visible on TV, I wasn't sitting idle either. Playing Arjun is like a dream come true " I had seen the movie Prince Of Persia, and ever since I'd wanted to play a warrior prince.
You've always had a chocolate boy image. As a mytho hero, do you think your audience will connect to you? l I'm very nervous. It is a huge responsibility to do a role such as this. I don't know whether people are going to accept me as Arjun. In fact, when channel asked me to play Arjun, I had said 'no' initially. But, when the show's producer Siddharth Tewari narrated how my role would shape up, I was convinced. He's been a great friend and produced my previous soap, so I had complete faith in him.
You've got a completely new look with long hair, a toned physique. I've put on eight kilos to look strong. I also learnt horse riding, attended sessions on weapon training, worked on my Hindi diction and grew my hair. All this was required to look convincing as Arjun. And the good part? I've become more disciplined and focused in life because I am playing this character.
Was it difficult to make it big as a TV star? l I was studying in Pune when I was asked to audition for Navya through a social networking site. Once I landed the show, there's been no looking back.
How did your parents react? They've been very supportive. When I told my dad about my decision to take up acting, he supported me in every possible way. He's very proud of me. Mom'shappy because as an avid TV viewer she loves seeing me up there.
Do you enjoy female adulation? l I love the female adulation! My fans' love and support keep me going. I've a cupboard which comprises letters, cards and gifts sent by my fans. They encourage me whenever I feel low.
Does your hectic schedule give you any 'me' time? When I am not shooting, all my waking hours are dedicated to horse riding and gymming. We are shooting near a beach in Umargaon, so whenever I have time off, I simply soak in the natural beauty.
Are you seeing someone? l I'm single and even though I want to mingle, I don't really have the time. I don't want to communicate with my sweetheart through sms or a social networking site. So, I guess love will have to wait for now.
