Hamida Banu and Child Marriage

I think this child marriage track is very interesting because if my dates aren't wrong, Hamida Banu married Humayun when she was 14 and had Jalaal at 15. Supposedly there was gossip that she was actually smitten with Hindal Mirza but was forced to marry Humayun as he fancied her. If this is true, then this child marriage track should have a lot of meaning for Hamida as she herself had experienced it. Getting married at 14 probably wasn't a big deal then but with the issue springing up in court, I would like to see Hamida's take on it or her reaction to it in the context of her own marriage.

I'm not able to understand the context of your supposition dear...today, would a lady react if she heard that another 24 year old was to get married (because she also got married at 24?)... I'm not sure...[i'm only talking of the age issue here not the fact that Adham's cheap or that Tasneem is unwilling!😳]

HB would not have been alone...almost ANY girl then would have got married at that age...precisely why its a bit difficult to understand how the CVs will deal with the track's progression...
Ruq was married when she was 8-9
Salima at 15 to BK who was much much older
Jodha would have been considered an older woman (for those day's standards) to have been married at 22???
Jodha herself arranges Maan's wedding to one of the nieces and the bride was 15-16 when they got married too😕

This track would have made a little more sense had Tasneem been under 10 .
But practically all of them (But for Ruq-Jalaal) in Agra got married at the age of 14 -15 when girls were actually not considered "child" any more in that era.

That's not what I'm referencing so much as the fact that she objected to the marriage. Yes, a lot of women on the show got married at a young age, but Hamida supposedly did not want the marriage just like Tasneem. I'm just drawing a comparison there. I understand that a lot of the other women got married when they were children also.

Oh! Ok ok... you referred to the unwillingness...ok... I don't know if they'll bring those memories though...I was surprised they brought up Suryabhan's name few days ago 🤔

I remember to have read about that...And the person she had actually wanted to marry was Ruqqu's father?
Gosh what a complicated life they mustve led!

😆 Yes, what a complicated life they had - Hamida just seems like such a one-dimensional character sometimes that I was hoping they might give her some dimension by showing other aspects of her personality other than her love for Jodha but I guess I hope for too much.

It was no gossip that hindal mirza and hamida banu liked each other and wanted to marry. Hindal was 17 and hamida 14 and her father was commander under hindal mirza. But humayun saw her when he was 33 and told hindal that he likes hamida and want to marry her when they were fleeing sher shah suri's troops. Hindal opposed but he was small and could not stand against his older brother. Hindal Mirza left Humayun and went and set up his own kingdom in a place in border of kabul. Humayun married hamida but she took a few months to give approval.

Maybe that's why she understands Jodha so well. Maybe her experience was that she ended up respecting & loving Humayun whom she found to be a better and wants the same for Jodha & Jalal. Now her support of Jodha makes more sense. Tq
