Karisma's dance tribute to the Kapoor women
Bollywood actress Karisma Kapur was among the star performers at the NDTV-Vedanta Our Girls Our Pride Telethon held in Mumbai on Sunday, December 1.
Karisma, who looked beautiful in a red outfit, paid a tribute to the strong and independent women of the Kapoor clan - her grand-aunt Geeta Bali, aunt Neetu Singh, mother Babita and sister Kareena.
Karisma is pictured here dancing to the song Shola Jo Bhadke from the 1951 movie Albela starring Geeta Bali, who was married to Karisma's grand-uncle Shammi Kapoor.
Karisma dances to the song Ek Main Aur Ek Tu from Neetu Singh's 1975 hit Khel Khel Mein, co-starring Neetu's husband and Karisma's uncle Rishi Kapoor.
Karisma dances to her mother Babita's hit number Aap Yahan Aaye Kis Liye from 1971 film Kal Aaj Aur Kalwhich starred three generations of the Kapoors - Prithviraj, Raj and Babita's husband and Karisma's father Randhir.
Karisma dances to Kajra Mohabbatwala from the 1968 film Kismat starring Babita.
Karisma's last number was Bhaage Re Mann from Chameli (2004), starring her sister Kareena.
Speaking to NDTV after her performance, Karisma said that family plays a very important role in changing attitudes towards girls and that parents should realise that they need to treat the girl child at par with her brother.
A special tribute to Kajol and Tanuja
At NDTV's telethon for schools, actress Kajol promised us she would be present at the telethon for the girl child. Here she is. She told Prannoy Roy, Priyanka and Vikram that it is about the mindset and that the problems of the girl child cannot be dealt with in one day. "We need to value lives," she added.
TV star Mouni Roy paid a special dance tribute to Kajol and her equally famous and talented mother Tanuja.
Mouni danced to Tanuja's hit songs Raat Akeli Hai from 1967 film Raat Akeli Hai and Baag Mein Kali Khili from Chand Aur Suraj (1965).
Mouni also danced to a medley of Kajol's hits - Suraj Hua Madhyam from Kabhie Khushi Gham (2001), Tujhe Dekha To from 1995 blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Awaara Bhawre from Sapnay (1997) and Sajda from My Name Is Khan (2010).
Kajol professed herself thrilled by Mouni's tribute and confessed that she never danced as well herself
