PART 47:

A day out, with her. What else could he ask for? She could see he was so happy with the idea of going out. He was eager to have his breakfast and medicines. He even asked her to get her ready soon when she was getting the medicines ready for the day along with the packed food. Outside food was a strict no for him.

Ar: kya kar rahe ho Aisha? Ye sab jaldi jaldi karo na.

Ai: relax Arjun. I promise we will have good time out. Par packing tho karne do.

Ar: aise lag raha hai jaise tum apne do saal ke bache ko outing pe lejarahe ho... (after thinking a bit) waise galath bhi nahi hai.

However he tried and even promised her, his eyes sometimes drifted to his partialy mobile legs. He could feel it. He could feel the strength in it. But to move by himself was tiring. Pain shoot up at every trial. So whenever he tried he made sure she was not around. The last thing he wanted was to let her see his pained face.

But Aisha hadn't missed the small instances when he tried on himself. It was indeed a good sign. Yes, it pained her when he panted after some attempts. But she let him try by keeping a distance. Because his state of mind was not hidden from her, even now.

She saw his eyes on his legs. She sighed silently and tried to distract him.

Ai: yaha paas ek view point hai. 1 hour ke road trip hai. Road ache hai. You will manage that much na?

Ar: I'll. Agar Baba ko lag raha hai ke its possible, then it might be. Warna wo mujhe iss compound se bhi bahar nahi jaane dethe.

Aisha smiled encouragingly. "driver already ready hai. And yes packing bhi hochuke hai. Lets change.ok?"

Ar: yes mam.

She helped him to change to a cotton shirt and a pant. And with a helper moved him to the wheel chair. She was about to change, when he held her back.

Ai: kya hua?

Ar: aaj Inspector Aisha nai, balke Aisha Rawte chahiye.

She patted his cheeks. "yes pathi dev... abhi aayi..."

She was selecting her salwar and he started rejecting all. "Arjun mere paas ithna hi salwar hai"

He pointed to a corner of her bag and she raised her eyebrow. "Saree?? No..."

Ar: yes...

Ai: ye mein sirf mandir jaane keliye layi thi. Aaj...?

Ar: aaj yahi pehenlo...

Aisha thinks for a while. "Ok... no problem"

She goes to change and while waiting, Arjun wheels himself near to the window where a mild breeze was coming in. It was so soothing. Some days back, he felt a hollowness as this wind touched him, but now it made him complete. A smile always lingered on his lips these days, which was quite oblivious to him.

He heard a door clicking and he turned his chair to her. Clad in a simple chiffon saree, with hair open, she looked like a fresh dew. She could feel his eyes on her which made her blush again, and to hide it she tried to distract him again. "ab chalo... aapko hi der horahe the na?"

She tried to cross behind his chair only to feel him caught back on her wrist. She looked down to him and felt a tug on her hand. She felt herself lean forward to face him. His hand was firm on her wrist while his eyes never left her eyes. He gently cupped her cheeks in his hand and traced it. It was hard to keep on looking him when he had all his love in his eyes. He smiled as she lowered her eyes. He thought putting end for her torture and kissed her cheeks, with his breath lingering there for a while.

She felt it and stood for a while and then moved back with eyes still lowered. He tugged her hand to make face him again. "Chale?" his voice did have a naughtyness and then she wheeled him out.

Baba was speaking to the man who was going to take them out giving instructions about everything including regular stops after sometime to let him adjust. Its been a while he havent sat for a long time. So he didnt want to make trouble.

Baba saw an ever so happy couple coming out. He was happy his work was having so much resuls. What could a doctor wish more, that his patient, who is more than a patient to be so happy. A doctor is not supposed to have personal connections with a patient. But Arjun was never his patient. He was just like his son, Aryan.

The vehicle arranged was a good one, where the seats could be arranged well for sitting or leaning as per wish.

Ar: aap ithna sab kuch kyu kar rahe ho baba? I mean... mein bhi unn sabke tharah hi hai na, jo yaha hu?

Ba: really? Mujhe nahi patha tha.

His recent jovial nature was infectious that Baba also started copying it. Arjun smiled at him.

Ba: nahi Arjun, you are not like them, at least for me.

He asked Aisha to take care and speak to the driver at any help needed. They were ready and moved out.

He sat back with his legs stretched and watching the surrounding through the window with the glass rolled down. The air was so cool. Greenary all along and her by his side. It was just perfect.

They spoke all along. About anything and everything. The list of topics were not enough to let it go. At an interval, the vehicle stopped and the man asked if he needed any rest. They declined and moved about.

The point selected was again green. It was a hill view point. There was a mild mist around even at that time. She wheeled him to a perfect spot. They could see a wild green surrounding below them. There were people who had come for trecking. Young and vibrant and ready for fun.

A split second, she saw a gloominess in his eyes. She sat on her knees facing him. He gave a smile to reassure her.

Ai: agli bar jab hum yaha hoge, tho hum trecking pe chalege. Hai na?

He nods his yes approving it, even thinking of walking by her side all along.

She cupped his face. "thats the spirit. Ab aage chale?"

He nods again and they moves to a point where everything was so clear. She lead him to a point near to a wooded bench and sat by his side. He had held her hands all along and they sat in silence.

They were absoarbing it. Every moment and every breath.

She looked to her side and saw him looking ahead. She could see his worry line ceasing. She leaned side and soon he felt her head resting on her shoulder.

She was on theat bench and him on the chair. Yet he wrapped her shoulder sideways by his hand.

Time didn't take any toll over there. They sat in silence for a long time and yet their heart was never in content.

She was feeling a feeling that she could not say, but it did flow out of her eyes. She didnt even try to stop it. Maybe something are never meant to be stopped.

He felt a slight wetness on his shirt, but then he let it be. She was acting all strong for him, and now a little bit of tears wont hurt. If it would give her the calmness, then let it go.

It was not the worry of his situation, nor the pain of the past that made this moment.

It was this moment'that they got that lead to it. Never in their dreams they might have thought that they would be here after that incident.

He was ready to kill himself for the world and Aisha, before. And she had shut herself down.

And now they are here. In the arms of their love, just like a dream come true... a dream which they didnt know that they could dream for.

As always, silence said it... and thats the power of the silence.

Moments later she parted him, not trying to look at him. He still held her shoulder with his hands and then chinned her up. He wiped those tears away and smiled. That was enough for her to smile back too.

Har lafs unn khamoshi me hi thi...

Aur jo keh nahi payi ... wo bhi wahi thi...

They spend their time together. It was just for them. They spoke later, smiled and never once went back to the gloominess.

And then it was getting dark.

Ar: sunset ke baad chale?

Ai: aaj nahi. Baba ne jaldi aane ko kaha hai. Sunset ke baad traffic kafi hogi.

Ar: hm...

Ai: aur aaj video conference bhi hai na...

There was a sudden change in his face. It was surely a good trigger.

They wheeled out and was going back in the vehicle. Soon topic of discussion changed to Aryan.

Ai: mein Aryan ke bare me kuch bhi nahi janthi.

Arjun took a while for himself. He knew little bit, thanks to Sakshi. And there the team might have known something too. So its time to fill her in.

Ar: jithna bhi patha hai, wo Sakshi se mili hui information se hai. Aur wo bhi jab, hamare almost'friendship hui thi. Aryan, Baba ka aklautha beta hai.

He spoke about the matter till he went to college in Mumbai.

Ar: aur fir Mumbai me usne part time job bhi karne lage. Uss company ke datails tho mujhe patha nahi hai. But something was defenitely off, aur ye bath Aryan ko patha chala. Thab thak kaafi der hochuki thi. Something happened in between, aur Aryan kafi pareshan hua. He once lodged a complaint about the death of his freind, who was working for the same company. He felt there was something suspicious. Par do din baad wo complaint wapas li gayi thi.

Ai: he took off that complaint?

Ar: usne kiya ya kisi aur ne... ye patha lagana hoga. Fir jo patha hai ke, Aryan missing tha. Baba didnt have any idea where he was. He went to Mumbai. Bohot sare logonse bath karne ke koshish ki. But no effect. Fir unhe bathaya gaya tha, ke Aryan kisi gair kanuni kaam me the. They even called him a terrorist. Aur ek police encounter me zakmi hai. But no one showed where he was. Some said he was missing, and some said he was dead. Jo bhi hai, hamare department me kisi ne bohot bada game khela hai. Sirf Aryan hi nahi, aur bhi students hai. Alag alag colleges se. Kuch missing case abhi bhi chal raha hai. Kuch Aryan ke tharah gayab. We ned to know what happened. Its already late.

Ai: hm... Sakshi ko aur koi information mila?

Ar: patha nahi, ETF me join karne ke baad she couldnt go behind it much. She was busy... with us.

Aisha got it clear. "its ok. I am sure ye case bhi bohot jald teekh hoga. Isse bhi purane case solve kiya hai humne."

There was the confidence of the Aisha.

Ar: you are right Aisha. But... mein uss din ke bare me soch raha hu... jab Baba ko sab patha chalega...

She knew it well too. The ever so smiling man was hiding a lot of pain in him. And the day of knowing everything will be terrible.

Ar: I can relate to his pain Aisha. I have gone through it. Not only once, but many times. Kisiko miss karne me kithna dard hai... i know it well.

Ai: for your information Arjun... i know it too.

She smiled at him. However they pushed back the past... its still their past.

In the night after fresh up, food and medicine, Baba came to meet them. Arjun thanked him with whole heart for the day out. It was truly reviving.

Ba: bas bas... ab sojao. Ok...

Ai: um... Baba... aaj thode der keliye, team ke sath meeting hai. Uske baad...

Ba: ok... koi important case hai?

Arjun looks at Aisha and then turns to Baba. "haan... bohot important hai."

Ba: ok... par zyada der math baitna. You need rest. Good night.

Ar: good night.

When Baba went away, Aisha sat by him. He knew she was feeling bad.

Ai: unse baath chupaana... achi nahi lagi.

Ar: I know. Par kuch din aur aise rahne do... till everything settles.

She agrees. Soon they get ready for the video chat.

In Mumbai, they saw Arjun and Aisha together on screen. They looked very lively. All could feel that over here too. And it was good to see the team too.

Ar: good evening everyone.

Sam: good evening. How are you both?

Ai: hum teekh hai sir.

Sam: I can see that.

They had a few moment of casual talks and then they switched back.

Ar: So Sam... whats the news.

He looked at everyone at the hall. Arjun was getting a negative vibe.

Ar: Rathod...

He poked again.

Sameer looked at Sree to give the information.

Sr: sir... Aryan aur unke friends jaha work kar raha tha... wo ek bada company tha. They were given fragments of coding. Jaise ek bade se building ko hum alag alag blocks banake jodthe hai.. waise. They never knew what was the main part. Jo kaha tha, wo bana rahe the.

Ar: ok... aur wo kya bana rahe the?

Sr: sir... its not yet completely clear. But ek bath batha saktha hu ke, it was not good. The top guns who were behind it were from abroad.

Ar: hm...

He could read that was not the last information that they had.

Ar: aur kuch?

He looked at each face. Then Sameer brushed his chin and dropped his pencil back on the table. He leaned back to his chair and sighed.

"Arjun... Aryan is dead..."

sometimes th only thing needed to comfort th other is pure silence which conveys more than words...
