Hi Friends,
Disclaimer: I am starting this poll with NO intention to start a war for weather this is right or this is wrong...the purpose is to know and discuss our expectations from our historical story telling

We all have discussed with every single sequence in the show that the facts have been changed and it was not this way 'actually'...which I personally find lil negative...and it sometime makes me avoid coming here at forum...

so how important is it to stick to the facts when you are travelling through history...

OK in my opinion...little changes in the events and sequences are ok as long as the overall message of the story does not change...as long as moral of the character is same on a larger scale...i don't mind changes in dialogues or even sequences...its ok if grey is shown as black or white is shown as off-white or vice versa

In one of the interviews the maker of the new MB show has explained why he wanted to make MB...its because our generation has grown up watching old MB series and watching the show provoked interest in us about MB and then whenever and however possible we tried to know and share info...whereas newer generations don't know much about it...and with nuclear families we know how can they know from their grandparents or so...so it is to tell them the story...

further about facts...it is beyond capacity of anybody to stick to all the facts that various text mention...so I prefer to note the thought process and psychology of the character than the dialogues ..or actions...coz dialogues and actions are given by screenplay writers which they must do...and every single line they write is there imagination and perception of the story...

we all have our own interpretation and perception of the MB story which naturally we consider as facts...we here at forum try to understand each others point view and discuss them...so we should also try to understand production and creative teams point of view...I may agree or disagree with their POV...but i just wont keep complaining that they have ruined everything...coz motive of the makers is good...they have put a lot of faith and effort in the project...which is worth appreciation than constant complaining

hope to see your views on this...

I feel it's of utmost importance to do lots of research and present the saga exactly how it happened!!

By distorting facts and showing things that didn't happen, people start to incorporate these stories and pass them on. This is why there are so many different ideas and notions as to what happened in Mahabharat. Because people display THEIR interpretations, pass them on, then the next person adds their own, etc.

I feel Star Plus, who is remaking it for our generation, should stick to facts.

Option 1.

So far they have caused plenty of deviations and changed the original story too. This is ridiculous! Not everyone has read the original epic and hence they will believe whatever crap the CVs show 🤢
This isn't an ordinary tale but our greatest epic.

^^^^ Fully agree w/ -Shruti. Option #1

Already, we see a lot of people often cite BRC as evidence of what happened, when it's easily demonstrable that even they took unbelievable liberties w/ the story. Imagine 20 years from now, people debating on whether Kunti should have overruled Priyamvada or not 🤣

Actually seeing this debate, I am reminded of the Granada TV's series on Sherlock Holmes starring Jeremy Brett as Sherlock.
The initial intention was to make a serial as close to Conan Doyle's stories- but there were some small- and in some cases major deviations.

But the main thing was the serial was absolutely true to the characterization of Sherlock Holmes. The Sherlock Holmes depicted in the serial was an exact portrayal of the book's Sherlock Holmes.

So, in any TV adaptation of a literary work, especially from a bygone era, it is important to be true to the characterization of that era and the behaviour of the people in that era.

My sincere advice to you- please don't watch this serial anymore.

If you do want to know more about MB, there is a wonderful 3-volume Series brought out by Amar Chitra Katha which is as close to the original as possible.

You can buy it online. That will give you a truer picture than this serial

People already quote B.R.Chopra and say Ghandhari stopped Kunti from giving a curse 😆

Even now we see people going "BUT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THE OLD VERSION" (Even my parents).

And I have to tell them the old version isn't authentic. He didn't WRITE the story of Mahabharat! Some people annoy me when they claim to know facts but regurgitate other people.

I agree, in 20 years people will have a story about the kid who Karna jumped off the mountain to save.
