Part 46:-

Mugdha and Shalabh:-

"To kya kiya jaye?"

"Padhai aur kya?"

Shalabh made a sad face, "Vo to karni hi padegi, but mujhe ye samajh hi nahi aata ki all of a sudden in logon ko aise exam announce karne ki kya jaroorat thi?"

"Oh ho tere ko badi problem ho rahi hai. Exams to humesha ki tarah hone hi hain aaj ho ya phir kabhi." Sunny told.

"Yaar samajhta nahi hai tu,"

"Mai sab samajh raha hoon."

"Kya samajh rahe ho tum?" Mugdha asked Sunny.

Shalabh gave Sunny the look which meant don't tell that what I feel for her and as a good friend he understood the meaning of his look, "Apun ye samajah gaya ki ye jo apna dost hai na is ka padhne likhne me koi interest nahi hai ab ye soch raha hai majboori me padhna padega."

Mugdha smiled, "Par ye bhi to jaroori hai na, bina studies k hum apna carrier nahi settle kar paate hain aur bina carrier k hum accha future kaise banayenge?"

Sunny was impressed, "Pehli baar mujhe koi aise sensible ladki dikhi jis ne make up aur shopping k alawa koi acchi baat ki."

"Nahi yaar aisa nahi hai, ye sab mujhe bhi pasand hai after all I am too a girl basically but mujhe lagta hai agar hum apni life me successful nahi hote hain to outer form me hum kitna bhi kuch kyoun na kare lein koi bhi insan humari true value nahi samajhta hai. Kuch logon ko success and sab kuch bahut easily mil jata hai jaise Ambani k sons ko milega but hum jaise middle class family k logon ko ye success earn karna padta hai jis k liye education bahut hi jaroori hai."

"sahi kaha, ab ye baat jara is ko samajhao." He said pointing at Shalabh.

"Ye samjhane ki baat nahi hai Sunny, ye feeling to khud bakhud bahar nikal k aati hai. Shayad abhi time nahi aaya hai aur jab aayega tab hume us ko kuch kehna hi na pade."

Shalabh in first time of his life understood the true meaning of such words and he mentally decided that he have to study seriously now. Mugdha's word has made a different effect and now he could see the depth behind her statement. He felt proud for such a girl who is so much carrier consious and can make his life mould in a direction of success. Later he went to drop her at her home.

"Bye." She said.

Shalabh waited for some moment and said, "thanks".

She was surprised, "Ye kyoun? Thanks to mujhe tum ko kehna chahiye for lift."

"Vo mai baad me bataoonga, kabhi kabhi kuch cheejin kehne se jyada kar k dikhana accha hota hai." He said smiling.

"Ok, I shall be waiting." She said bidding bye.

Sunny who sat behind till now came on front seat seeing him smiling said, "To is baar mujhe challenge karne k liye koi hai."

Shalabh looked at him, "Mai samjha nahi."

"Par mai samajh gaya aur ab mujhe lag raha hai ki ladka sudhar gaya. Sach kehte hain log ki pyaar me badi takat hoti hai. Hum log samajhte nahi hai par tujhe dekh kar to ab mujhe yakeen ho gaya hai ki aisa hota hoga."

Shalabh didn't say anything he just smiled at him. Meanwhile when Mugdha came out of his car her mom saw her and when she entered in the house she asked, "Kis k saath aayi ho?"

She stopped on her track and wanted to speak lie as she knew her mom's nautre who was very strict about somethings but instead she chose to speak the truth, "Maa vo mera class mate tha Shalabh and you remember Anu ki engagement me mila tha vo mujhe jeeju ka bahut accha friend hai vo."

Her mom was not happy with this still but one thing she knew that Mugdha was speaking the truth as she herself found that boy a bit familiar. "Is tarah kisi bhi paraye ladke k saath yahan vahan ghoomna acche ghar ki ladkiyon ko shobha nahi deta hai. Ab agar koi ulta seedha kahega tumhare baare me to mai kis kis ko jawab deti firoongi? Tumhe to samajh hai nahi, kuch cheejon ko samajhna shuru karo ab itne choti bhi nahi ho."

She didn't argue with her, "Ok mom, mai khayal rakhoongi aage se."

Back to Vardaan and Kajal:-

"Bologe?"

She looked at Vardaan but he was unaware as he was enjoying his Kajal. She called him and her eyes searched for his reaction but he didn't give it. She was confused she called him once again.

"Vardaan...", still no response. "Vardaan", she almost shook him.

"Oh haan..kya hua?"

"mujhe rehne do tumhe kya hua? Kahan khoye hue ho? Mai kuch pooch rahi hoon tum se aur tum response nahi kar rahe ho."

"Oh..nahi bus mai kuch sochne laga tha. Batao kya poochna tha tum ko?"

"Mai ye keh rahi thi ki...", she paused as she knew what would have been the reaction so taking a deep breath she looked at him, "I'm leaving."

He knew that she has to go as he didn't know about anything that his mother wanted Kajal to stay here. "Kajal yahi ruk jao na." He requested.

Kajal made a sad face and sensing some seriouness in the situation Abhay said exiting from the room, "Kajal I will be waiting for you downstairs and let me know what we have to do." He bid Vardaan bye and went.

Kajal looked at Vardaan, "Vardaan you know I really want to stay here with you but it's not possible."

"Why? If you want than what's the problem?"

"Vardaan dekho don't take me wrong maa ne bhi mujh se kaha tha but you know mai jis family se belong karti hoon vahan ye sab aise ...I mean bina kisi relation k tumhare yahan rehna and more to that I am an employee in your office. Till today nobody knows about our relation and agar aise kisi ko pata chala to they will think that mai tum ko...you know set kar rahi hoon and all and I really don't want that."

"To hell with everyone, I don't care what they think about us." He said.

"I know Vardaan but mai nahi chahti aisa. All I want people know me as a different individual who has made her identity by her own."

Vardaan was still not happy, "To tum is duniya ko dikhane k liye kar rahi ho ye sab?"

She sighed, "Nahi...duniya ko dikhane k liye nahi apne liye bhi kar rahi hoon ki mujhe humesha apne pe proud feel ho."

Vardaan knew ki gussa karne se koi fayda nahi hone wala hai so taking her hands in his he said, "Kajal you know mujhe kuch bhi farak nahi padta in baaton se ki koi mere baare me kya sochta hai aur mujhe lagta hai ab mere rehte hue tum ko bhi is baat ki parwaah karna chod dena chahiye."

She sighed, "I know Vardaan, tum apni jagah sahi ho sakte ho aur mai apne jagah to u should try to understand my point."

He couldn't get angry with her as his heart knows that her point is right as well.

Three months later:-

"Ab aap bilkul theek hain Mr. Vardaan."

" To ab mai vapas office join kar sakta hoon na doc?" It was Vardaan's next question for which he got a solid glare from Kajal.

"haan kyoun nahi par jyada der k liye nahi."

"Par kyoun doc mai to bilkul fit and fine hoon na? Jab mujhe kuch hua hi nahi hai ab to mai ab kya karne ghar me rahoon?" he asked making a face.

"Excuse me Mr. Mehra aap jara meri taraf dekhiyega?" Kajal said in a stern voice.

Vardaan made a cute face and said dramatically, "aap ko to hum zindagi bhar dekhne k liye taiyar hain."

His mother and doctor both smiled at his statement whereas Kajal blushed and she dropped her gaze to the floor. Now Vaishanvi jee said, "Chal accha ye bata ki tujhe ghar me rehne me problema kya hai?"

Vardaan made a puppy face and said, "maa don't take me wrong par mere accident ki vajah se dad ko itne problem hue hai mai jaanta hoon. Aaj kal office ka saara kaam vahi dekh rahe hain yahan tak ki late hours me ghar aate hain kitna thak jaate hain mai samajhta hoon par mai ab nahi chahta ki mere theek hote hue bhi dad ko pareshaan hona pade."

Vaishanvi jee smiled seeing the concern Vardaan showed for his father, "but beta hum chahte the ki kuch din tum aur aaram kar lo."

"Nahi maa already bahut time ho gaya hai aise hi aaram karte karte ab mujhe apna mind fresh karna hai bahar jaa k. I mean office jaa k."

Vaishnavi jee shook her head disapprovingly, "Ye ladka manega nahi. Par mujhe pakka pata hai office jate hi tu phir se kaam me lag jayega aur apna khayal nahi rakhega."

Vardaan smiled slightly, "Mera khayal rakhne k liye ye hain na..." He pointed towards Kajal, "Ms. Would be Vardaan Mehra to aap kyoun tensin leti hain?"

Vaishnavi jee smiled and said, "are haan mai to bhool hi gayi thi ki ab meri hone waali bahu jab humesha saath hai to mai kyoun itne fikr karoon teri."

Kajal felt ofended, "Nahi maa, aisa nahi hai. Aap Vardaan ki maa hain aur aap ka hak humesha se sab se pehle rahega in pe mai to bus..."

Vaishnavi jee cut her bewteen, "To bus nahi...meri beti hai aur jitna hak mera hai ab tera bhi hak utna hi hai samjhi. Bus mai is baat se relaxed hoon ki tere rehte hue mujhe kisi baat ki ab fikr nahi hai. Ab to ye late hua kabhi office me to mai tujh se poochoongi."

"May I join you all?" someone asked.

All turned to see the direction where Mr. Arora was standing. Kajal stood and Vaishnavi jee smiled to see him, "Are aap, aap kab aaye?"

"Bus abhi jab Vardaan office wapas jane ki zid kar rahe the."

"Hey dad, kaise hain aap?"

"Namaste uncle." Kajal greeted him.

"Namaste beta kaise ho aap?"

"Mai theek hoon uncle."

Now he turned towards Vardaan, "To aap ab office jana chahte hain."

"Yes dad, mai yahan bahut boar ho gaya hoon."

"I know beta and now I think you are almost fine but ek baat mai jaroor kahoonga ki don't take too much load. I am always there. Bahar k kaam to abhi possible nahi hai but abhi aap office me reh k vahan k kaam to dekh hi sakte hain."

Vardaan smiled finally, "Thanks dad."

Than again he looked at Kajal, "Aur ek baat beta mai yahan jaroor kehna chahoonga I know you will take care of him well. Mujhe ab jo bhi shikayat karni hai vo mai Kajal se hi karoonga so Kajal be alert."

Kajal smiled seeing the concern in his eyes for Vardaan. "Kajal ko samjha rahein hain ya warn kar rahe hain." Vaishnavi jee asked him.

"Are bhai aisa kuch nahi hai mai janta hoon jab ye office me rehta hai to apne kaam me itna doob jata hai ki is ko waqt ka aur apna kuch bhi khyal nahi rehta hai. Isiliye mai ye chahta hoon ki ab Kajal in ko thoda control karein."

"Tab to theek hai, vaise aap ka sochna bhi sahi hai." Vaishnavi jee smiled.

Soon his parents left after some chat with both. "So?" Vardaan asked Kajal.

"What?"

"Oh ho Kajal tum to aisa behave karti ho jaise kuch samajhti hi nahi ho." He said cheekly winking.

"Vardaan sorry par mai ab ghar jana chahti hoon vaise bhi kaafi late ho chuka hai." She said.

"Had hai, itna romantic boy friend mila hai aur madam ko ghar jane ki itne chinta hai ki poocho mat."

Kajal smiled at his nautanki, "Tum na, bus yahan baithe baithe romance me PHd seekh rahe ho na."

"Kya karoon free time bahut hai aaj kal mere pass."

"Ab nahi rahega."

"Haan pata hai, accha hi hai kal se office jana hai ab at least poore din tumhare saath to rahoonga."

All of a sudden Kajal's mobile started ringing. She looked at the screen for name of caller and found it her mother's. She signaled Vardaan to be quite, "Namaste maa."

"Haan beta kaise hai?"

"Theek hoon aap log kaise hain?"

"Hum theek hain, tujhe kuch batane k liye call kiya tha."

"Bataiye maa."

"Hum log parson morning me aa rahe hain vahan."

She was surprised, "Are achanak se, sab theek to hai na vahan?"

"Haan beta sab theek hai tu pareshaan mat ho. Vo Anchal ki friend hai na Anu us ki marriage fix hue hai one week baad."

"Oh, tab to bahut accha hai."

"Haan aur Anchal kaafi excited bhi thi ki hum log vahan jaa kar thoda Mumbai bhi ghoom aayenge."

"Good idea maa," Kajal was finally happy to have her mom and sis back here with them for a few days. "To aap log mujhe apni train k aane ka time msg kar dijiyega." She said.

"Haan beta bilkul. Aur bata tera kaam kaisa chal raha hai?"

"Sahi chal raha hai maa, bus aaj kal bahut thak jati hoon thoda work load jyada hai."

"Samajhti hoon beta, tu humare liye itna kuch karti hai aur hum..." But Kajal cut her between, "Ye sab nahi maa, mai bus vahi kar rahi hoon jo mera farz hai."

Her mother smiled and said, "Bus teri yahi baatein to tujhe duniya ki sab se acchi beti banati hain."

"Aur aap ko duniya ki sab se acchi maa." Kajal said smiling.

"Chal mai rakhti hoon beta phone tu ab aaram kar." And the bid each other good bye and hung the phone.

Vardaan found her so happy and all he could read from his expression that it's all because of her mother and sister as she is a family lover girl for whom her family matters a lot to her and always comes first. "Maa aa rahi hain?"

Shalabh and Mugdha:-

"Tum aaj itne tensin me kyoun lag rahe ho?" Mugdha asked Shalabh.

"Nahi, aisa to kuch nahi hai."

"jhooth aaj maine college me bhi tumhe dekha tha tumhe dekh k lag raha tha ki bahut badi tensin hai koi. Al lis well in family na?"

Shalabh was still not ready to speak up the real thought of his nervousness, "kuch nahi. Chalo ab mai rakhta hoon baad me baat karta hoon." He was still distracted.

"Good night."

"Good night." And they hung the phone. Mugdha was still sure that he was hiding something. She thought something and texted Sunny, "are u awake?"

He got the sms and replied immedieatly, "yes, anything serious?"

She called him, "Hey."

"Hi, bol kya hua?"

"Sorry to disturb you so late."

"Oye bus kar, tujhe aur Shalabh ko kabhi sorry and thanks bolna chahiye kya?"

She smiled, "Phir bhi. Ye tere rest ka time hai na."

"Bus kar yaar itne formality ab bata kya hua?"

"Ek baat poochni thi, ye bata aaj tune Shalabh ka behavior dekha tha vo kaafi depressed aur distracted lag raha tha baat kya hai?"

Sunny smiled senseing the concern in her voice for Shalabh, "Kuch nahi hua hai us ko."
