After being on television for the last 13 years as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan, is all set to make his television debut in fiction with Anurag Kashyap's show onSony TV.
And not to be left too far behind is his wife Jaya Bachchan who will also be seen in her small screen debut on the same channel. The news of Jaya acting in a TV series for the first time ever has already been out and now the buzz is that the show is titled Vasundhara where inJaya Bachchan plays the protagonist.
Vasundhara is based on the Gujarati novel Yog Viyog by Kaajal Oza Vaidya, which was originally published in the magazine Chitralekha. The show will be directed by Pankaj Parashar, who has earlier directed the popular detective show of the 1980's Karamchand and films like Chaalbaaz and Jalwa.
A source reveals that the casting for the show has not been done yet and only Jaya has been finalized. "But the show will largely have television actors whose names are just being tossed around," the source says. The woman-centric show is the story of Jaya as a single parent and will be produced by Endemol India. If everything falls into place, the makers and channel are hoping to go on air some time in Jan or Feb 2014.
