my ramleela review
SPOILERS AHEADnow u guys may already know I was really looking forward to this movie for a very long time and have become a huge fan of ranveer and deepika. But I went into the cinema completely unbiased and wanted to honestly give my opinion on the movie.
You guys, it was much more than I expected!
Everything was so out of this world! The costumes, dancing, acting, sets, comedy, drama, happiness, grief!!
My highlights of the movie:
1) This one is my most fave out of the movie, the scene where leela enters! O my goodness it is breath taking! Her beauty along with her gorgeous lehnga and the way she smiles throughout that scene! But the highlight is the background music when she enters, it is so uplifting and I want to cry at how beautiful it made her entrance. How she plays with her friends in holi and then for the first time locks eyes with ram, off too good!
2) The balcony scene, loved the way the two of them where like excited children and how they couldn't get enough of each other! Deepika acted it so well, leela seemed to be so happy to be in love was so cute to see.
3)Leelas fianc, he was a laugh riot! The poor man was caught in this crazy family and he didn't know how to handle it, his scenes will make you giggle.
4)The scene between ram and leela after ram kills her brother, so powerful how deepika acts in it, first time I have seen her so angry in a movie.
5)Ang laga de, PHEW! Damn the kiss in that song is breath taking, ranveer was right, it is the best kiss in indian cinema!
6)The argument between ram and leela before ang laga de, too too powerful. Never seen deepika act like that, such a well acted and scripted scene!
6)Scene where they take leela away, I want to kill rams friends, how could they do that to him!
7)The scene where leelas mom cuts her finger off, one of the most powerful scenes in the movie! It was heart-breaking to see her collapse after that, she was so overcome with grief that her mother actually did that to her!
8)Scene where rasila goes to the jadaris side to call ram, again rams friends are b**tards! The way they taunted her and then tried to rape her was disgusting, bit richa was so powerful in that scene.
9)The most heart-breaking scene for me is the end, not just because they kill each other, but the fact that Baa actually agreed for them to be together, and rasila was banging on the door to tell leela she can now be with ram, but by then they were gone, even thinking about it makes me want to cry!
Dhoop and poore chand were the only two songs not in the movie, but I was not happy with the fact that laal ishq was in the movie for about 30 seconds! Now this makes me think that there is a whole video for laal ishq but they cut it out! Waiting for the DVD so I can see all the deleted stuff, because I know there is a lot they cut out.
The story is predictable but slb puts in some really good twists that keeps it fresh.
But the songs were a huge highlight, and they were not on every 5 mins, they were spaced out very well and I loved lahu munh lagaya, tattad tattad, ram chahe leela and nagada sang dhol! Priyanka looked buatiful and trust me the songs looks great in the movie.
The CHEMISTRY! only after shahrukh and kajol have I seen two actors so comfortable and so complementary to each other! The heat between them is so palpable and they took my breath away!
Also it is something you can watch with your family, but probably not with very small children, it is not vulgar or rude at all!
So overall I loved the movie, definitely one of deepikas best movies. SLB is definitely back and has given us a movie to remember! The whole cast deserves a huge round of applause, will definitely be watching the movie again!
Go and watch it now! And only in the cinema, because the visuals are one of the biggest highlights of the movie!
