mohabbat...insahallah, sad aankhon par! đ
I am waiting for that day when he will say it. đł
Today was the first time I saw a small step of Jalal's journey towards being "Akbar". Now it seems all confusing and vague but as a Shahensha he did a lot of things that he never did or even thought of before.
He didn't take any drastic step to sentence Jodha, neither did he insult her in public earlier, today in front of his ammijaan he took the blow all to himself and lied for the first time, took all the blastings from Jodha herself without a word. Mind you when he sided with Jodha in front of Mallika-e-Azam he didn't know Jodha was not pregnant. The effect of that medicine would be showing after 4 hours but he had that faith on Jodha and her honor and character to stand up for her even before that time. His ammijaan for the first time almost was going to strike him but he never said a word but casually shrugged it off as if nothing happened and said he was merely testing Jodha.
Imagine the importance of the situation here back in those days. A wife and in this case a begum if accused of adultery and infidelity not much was heard but directly she was punished for her misdeeds but here the husband who is also a Shahensha took the blame and sided with his wife even before her integrity and character was proven to be chaste. That is a huge step in their relationship from his end.
We the viewers know what happened, we saw the whole 9 yards but Jalal only knows his side of the story and obviously believed the doctor which any one would have done. From his end he didn't do anything wrong if he questioned Jodha. Any husband would have done the same thing be it in 16th century or the 21st century.
Jodha is right in her place as well and it is a terrible blow when your husband questions you and points a finger at your character whether in private or in public. But to her what Jalal asked to her in her room the whole palace is asking her now and it is quite usual for her to think that it must have been spread by Jalal himself. Moti in this regard was much sensible than Jodha and she knew Maham is behind all this in some way. But Jodha's reactions were justified. To her, her husband has raised this issue and now his family is, being the wife she went directly to him to question him and ask for justice. She has led a sheltered life and I guess no one in the family has enlightened her about physical intimacy or the symptoms of it and so there was no way she would have known nothing happened that night and all that blew out of proportion to her face was the affirmation of the doctor. Obviously she would be livid with Jalal knowing he can be the only one since he had the opportunity and maybe the will.
As I kept saying both were right and both were wrong just what Salima Begum said. I am happy to see that at least he has one ally in that palace full of enemies and traitors. I also hope Salima begum slowly helps in clearing the mist of misunderstanding covering Jodha's eyes regarding Jalal in near future.
Hopefully next week we will see both Jalal and Jodha overcoming this track and Jodha realizing what Jalal did for her and Jalal also realizing that no matter what Jodha can never betray or back stab him in any way. If she doesn't like anything she will spit it out upfront instead of going behind his back and plot and scheme or go astray from her wifely moral duties. Physical aspect will come much later and I am crossing my fingers that it will be way down the line but when it will shown then too Jodha will fulfill all her wifely responsibilities to the core.
But I loved Jalal's stand for Jodha today without waiting for any proof he supported her blindly taking the flak. That is a huge step not only as a husband but as a Shahensha as well. It shows with help from a mentor like Salima Begum he is developing the foresight, understanding, compassion, balanced judgement, intelligence and perspicacity of being the just emperor on whom his subjects will look up to and present the title of "Akbar". And it gave me great pleasure to know that I knew Jalal or the CV's. đ I knew and hoped this scenario would come so badly.
I am looking forward to next week now.
Have a good weekend forum wasis! đ
