I am so late, but here I am!
The present crop of CVs are so unimaginative when it comes to shaping up a story with believable content. Refer to the blind insertion of Kalika and Kusum into the turf under the most flimsiest of circumstances. But they do know that the unique selling point of this enterprise is SaMud scenes. But how long can the leads alone be the 'beasts of burden' in carrying and sustaining the viewership of the show? Speaking for myself, I don't watch the show only for the leads, I need a strong story to back up the good work by the cast. Unfortunately, there seems to be so much scarcity of ideas in the creative department that they churn out these ridiculous twists and turns without paying heed to careful execution of exposition and that, my friend, is highly intolerable after some point.
The very many sensitive issues the show has touched upon so far have been handled in such disgracefully impetuous fashion that this whole 'adaption' is nothing but a desecration of the highest order.
I have quite a few issues with the storyline which don't sit well at all with me
-Kalika providing impetus to Kumud's love epiphany.
-Kumud doing nothing whatsoever about Kalika staying around at the Desais', She not raising her voice against Kalika being a concubine is incongruous to the way she's been portrayed so far. Especially when Kalika is married to her own cousin and is still a liability.
-The Desais feeling grateful to Kalika as though this very blood donation act magically discounts her homicidal attempt on their daughter during the Navratri festivities.
-Saras not opening his mouth about the open-ended promise made to Kalika.
Let me not start about my take on Kusum, for I will go bonkers. A solid foundation has never been laid convincingly for the character Kusum to show signs of 'getting cheated in love'. This character is now getting effed up just like Pramad's. The 'greyness' in him was greatly demolished and was reduced to a "70s b-grade baddie caricature", as Ivy would say. Basically what I'm trying to say is that everything about the baddies in the show looks so 'forced', if you know what I mean.
But as they say, old habits die hard. I still read the WU and FF many scenes to keep my sanity at check while watching. Let's see how long I'll 'survive' this set-up 😳
Sorry for the longish rant!
PS: Love your post. Pure.concentrated.awesomeness. =)
