Well, my dear Tina, there is something to be said for reading a number of chapters - five here, including the prologue - at one go. It gives one a good grip on the story, especially at the beginning. Having done this, I can tell you without the slightest hesitation that you have done very well in rebooting your old FF in this way.
Rathore is still somewhat shady and vague as a character, and you have not, as far as I could make out, included a character sketch of Arjun and of Sam's mother as yet. But as he is to be the romantic lead, Arjun has to be dark and stormy and angry at everything and nothing, and in that sense your Arjun is a success.
You need to let us know what he does in life, however, and then whether he is Sameer's real brother or a step-brother, and if it is the latter, who is, or was Sameer's mother.
Two new elements that you have introduced and I liked were:
- the bitterness that Sameer feels towards Arjun for having detached him from the girl, Ania, whom he had presumably loved and wanted to marry a year ago. This was not in evidence when they first met after a year, but it surfaces at the first pretext.
- there is not subterfuge or misunderstanding because of which, as was the case before, Sakshi is pitchforked into Sameer's family. Here she comes in with the full status of Sameer's fiancee.
However, I was a bit surprised that Sameer did not defend his choice of Sakshi as a wife when the rest of the family criticised the choice and attacked Sakshi's motives.it was not what I would have expected of him.
Lastly, I feel that, even after making all possible allowances for her inferiority complex as an orphan and her consequent near conviction that she is not worthy of Sameer and would never fit into his family, your Sakshi is far too ready to collapse and start behaving like a watering pot at the slightest pretext. She should have hardly been surprised by the kind of things said by Arjun and his mother about her and her motives in marrying Sameer. She should have expected that this is how they would react. So why does she behave like a headless chicken and alternatively sulk and weep? Tina, you have to stiffen her spine and give her some self-assertiveness, and fast.
Your latest is coming along nicely, and all the best for the rest of it.

After the fight, Arjun went straight to his room. He heard someone calling from behind, but he was too hurt after all this to even say anything. His disturbed thoughts, the accusations, everything was true and yet there was many other things also which Sam knew yet didn't want to acknowledge. He entered his room, and lied on the bed, his hand on his head.
Sam's accusations were too fresh, and despite one year having passed, nothing changed between Sam and him. He heard someone opening the door, and but didn't open up his eyes to see who it was was.
"Arjun," Mrs Rathore said softly.
"Ma, I don't want to talk with anyone. I want to stay alone a bit," Arjun said turning so that his back was facing Mrs Rathore now. But Mrs Rathore wasn't giving up, she went and sat on the bed behind Arjun. She patted Arjun's back for some time, and waited in silence for Arjun's outpour. And as she had been waiting, Arjun turned and put his head on her lap. Her Arjun wasn't crying, yet she knew he was very much hurt.
She lightly stroked his head, and said, "Arjun, Sam doesn't hate you. You know how much he loves you nah! It's just that circumstances were against you, nothing more. And Sam knew the truth, and he knows about Ania, and he fully realized that you only did what he would have done also had the situation been reversed!"
Arjun just mumbled something, not saying anything more. But she continued to stroke his head, and added, "He'd be back, you know he can never live with hurting you!"
"Nahin Ma, he wont be bad. Last year I hurt him very badly, and apart his heart, also his trust on me had taken a blow, and not to mention, his ego took a serious beating. And today also, I only wanted to protect him from taking a wrong decision, but again it seems I was too harsh. He'll never forget me!" Arjun said tiredly.
He raised his head, and sat up back. He turned so that he could face the woman who was like a mother to him, had been a lot of years now. He cupped her face in his hands and said, "I have decided that I will leave from here. Anyway I was just on holidays here. I have to return back to work now. But I'll never return back, till Sam doesn't forgive me now. I already brought him so much pain, how can I take him from you now?"
"Nahin," Mrs Rathore said hurt now, she was going to lose both her sons.
"You'll not disappear from my life at all!"
"But I have to. As long as I come here, Sam will never return back. And I'm afraid that out of anger, he doesn't take any wrong decision!" Arjun added.
He got up and started to take his suitcase out, he was just adding his clothes in it, when his mobile started to ring. He picked it up, and as seconds drew by, his face whitened.
One hour later, Arjun and Mrs Rathore were making their way in the hospital.
"Where is Mr Sameer Rathore? He was brought in following an accident some time ago?"Arjun was asking every nurse and doctor he saw. Till finally someone led him to where the accident victims were. The victims were presently being operated on. The hours which followed were very stressful for them.
Finally after a long wait, the doctors came out. From their faces, one could see that they didn't have any good news. Arjun's heart fell even before the doctor said anything.
"Aap log?" one doctor said before telling anything.
"I'm Sameer's brother, and this is his mother," Arjun said anxiously.
"We tried our very best, when they were brought it, they were seriously injured, and were unconscious," the doctor started.
"They?" Arjun asked, completely having forgotten that Sam wasn't alone, but Sakshi was with him during that accident.
"Yes a young man and a young girl were brought here," the doctor replied, "So like I said, we tried our very best, but we couldn't do much. We are sorry!"
Mrs Rathore started to cry, thinking the extreme, that Sam was dead. While Arjun was completely shattered on hearing this. The last time with Sam was their fight, he'd have to live with this his whole life.
"Where is his body?" Arjun asked miserably.
"Body? Whose body? Mr Arjun, no one died. What I wanted to say was that..." the doctor started to elaborate. As the doctor's words started to make any sense, both Arjun and Mrs Rathore went from happiness to guilt and sadness.
Ten months later
'Doesn't it make you feel silly, talking to someone who doesn't even know you're there?' a new probationer asked Staff Nurse Anita one morning.
'We don't have a clue whether or not the patient can hear us!' said Anita, a neat and cheerful woman in her twenties. 'But we have to keep trying. It's possible that constant stimulation works, so never forget to talk, to her when you're doing anything.'
Nurse Kiran nodded hurriedly. 'Yes, Staff Nurse!' It was a start for her, she didn't want any problem with the Staff nurse, so she was eager to make a good impression; this was her first ward. Staff Nurse Anita watched her attentively, then relaxed and smiled, lowering her voice. 'Actually, Kiran, it helps us, too. We mustn't forget a patient is also a human being, not just a doll we move around. Tell yourself that the patient can hear you and is only sleeping, it makes your job easier.' She bent down, her usual cheerful smile sounding in her voice. 'Hello, how are you today? We're going to wash you, now, and comb your hair, visiting time in an hour! You want to look your best, don't you?'
"Do we have lots of visitors here?' the younger girl asked, helping to lift the patient so that they could proceed with the washing. Anita frowned and sighed, "Not really, only one visitor's as regular as clock work, and there are a few others."
Anita was washing the patient's face as she talked, then began to brush the hair slowly and gently.
Nurse Kiran, who was twenty, watched in silence, thinking that the patient was only a few years older than herself.
"How long?" she asked Anita.
"It's almost ten months," Anita's voice was flat.
"Ten months? Oh. So, even if the patient did ever recover consciousness, there will be a high risk of brain-damage? Or other things like paralysis?" Kiran burst out in shock. Anita gave her a stern look. "We don't know that!'
"But, probably," Kiran began, then stopped with a gasp, staring down at the patient.
"Kiran, never discuss a patient's prognosis in front of them, even if they're unconscious!' Staff Nurse Anita said sharply. Nurse Kiran whispered, "Staff! Staff... her eyelids moved!"
Staff Nurse Anita froze, staring at the patient without seeing any change. She crossly said, 'Just automatic eye movement, nothing more"
She broke off, a shiver of primitive shock running down her back as they began to lift. "I told you... I told you!" shouted Nurse Kiran excitedly.
They both gazed down at the open brown eyes. The patient wasn't yet focusing on anything, but staring like a baby just beginning to see the world around it, shortsightedly looking into a dazzle of light, blinking. Then the patient's pale lips parted and a breath came through them, a sound, almost like a sigh.
Staff Nurse Anita pulled herself together and, without taking her eyes from the patient, spoke softly and quickly to the probationer. "Go and call the doctor, and the specialist. Hurry," Nurse Kiran reluctantly detached her eyes from the patient and turned to run. The movement startled the patient in the bed, who finally seemed to realise that there were others in the room, drew an audible breath, the pupils dilating and looked around. Staff Nurse Anita summoned up a gentle smile, bending down.
It was a joyful thing, she had never felt so much happiness than today. This was why she loved doing this job, sometimes miracles did happen like today.
She thought it was time for her to phone him and announce the good news now.
