kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi E x-CEO Star Sameer Nair was fascinated by its name, concept and characters. A powerful industrialist Govardhan Virani lives with his wife, three sons, daughters-inlaw and grandchildren, in his family home, Shantiniketan. Tulsi (the eldest grandson's wife played by Smriti Z Iraani) fights to keep the family together at all times. On air for over 10 years, it has seen many generation leaps and as critics would say 'regressive content'. The fact is that no other show has been able to topple its popularity. It is the largest contributor to the success story of Ektaa Kapoor.
The popularity of the show is perhaps proof of the power of family saga narratives. A trend-setter of sorts, "Saas-Bahu' is a term that has become a genre by itself.
