non-Indians allowed?

Hey everyone! Well first off I'm not Indian nor am I hindu, muslim, sikh, or of any other religion. I don't even have any Indian friends, but I do have a great deal of interest in and respect for India and Indian culture. Starting about a year ago I began reading a lot about India after tutoring several Indian kids. A couple of them just happened to become my favorite students (and still are) and as I got to know them better I became interested in learning more about India. In addition their parents have always been extraordinarily friendly and seem quite proud of their Indian heritage.

Anyways, I've found after reading many books that I keep coming across the same information about India, so I have come here to hopefully learn some things that I won't find in books. For example, it was really cool reading about everyone's past experiences and plans for Holi.

So is this forum exclusively for Indians? Or is anyone welcome? If so, I hope you won't mind if I occassionally ask some basic (and probably silly in your opinion) questions about words or different things discussed on here related to Indian culture. For instance, I have seen the word "desi" several times on here being used to refer to someone, but I don't recall ever coming across it in my readings. If someone could tell me that would be cool, and if anyone has any questions they would specifically like to ask a white, male American dude, then I will be happy to answer them. Thanks IF.
