Another marriage without background checks

When Bani was married off to Parmeet, I had wondered how people could get their daughter married off to a guy in 10 days which did not give them sufficient time to make inquiries. But then the trusted matchmaker was present in that case and in villages and more close-knit towns, this is normal
However, now we are seeing Jia being married off to a guy she met on the internet, who has passed himself off as an NRI but orphan. But being an orphan does not mean peopledon't make any inquiries. And in this case we are talking about a parent who works in NGOs and so must have come across so many cheats.

Then why is it that when it came to her own daughter, Jia'smother did not do basic inquiries (friends, relatives or orphanage). Parmeet did not come out of thin air. And from his accent it is obvious that he has not been in Canada for long (if he ever was) either.

In my opinion it's very clear that jiya's mother is a bit irresponsible when it comes to her daughter. Jiya said herself that her mother won't say "no" to her, no matter what she asks.

We also have Jiya who is a young girl, and i think i can make this generalization by saying that sometimes it's easy "to fall in love'" or to believe one is in love at this young age😳.

Now about the accent thing 😉 i think it's more something that we should put on the actor's fault than on Parmeet. Do you recall Amreek's accent? I laugh out loud everytime he spoke in english!!!😆

I was much more concerned with Bani's marriage with parmeet 😲because even if they could trust the match maker, i think it's primordial to let the bride and groom have some time together before the wedding to see if they can even stand each other. Let alone all this duplicity from Parmeet, Bani is lucky that he is not a total obnoxious and disagreeable guy!!! 😕🤢

I know, right! Im a bit flim flam flabbergasted at how stupid Anuradha is being considering she is a women's social worker/NGO owner...Why is it so hard for serial makers to show actually smart and intelligent women...and let them stay that way...

@krithika: I am with you that Bani's family can be excused especially since in that instance, Desho had taken the 10-day oath.
That dialogue about Parmeet having to take care of everything was so degrading and that too from a person who should in fact be encouraging women to take charge and become more independent. No idea what kind of NGO worker she is. She seems to encourage the thought that women are nothing without a man. The upcoming track (as per spoiler) indicates the same.

Looks can be so deceptive right?

When I saw this confident woman and Parmeet/Jia relationship, I thought this lady would help Bani become more independent and take charge of her life. Instead she herself is so regressive. I am amazed she went to the brothel with the police - her character now suggests that she is the type concerned enough to inform but then stay at home as the next stage is a man's work

@r-c: If Parmeet's accent is a blooper, then it is a big one.. But then even Balbir's english (the little he has said) does not seem any different and so you couldbe right😆
As for Bani's marriage, I had the same concern and hadmade a post at the time. But the points/examples put forward by our members here was also valid that such things do happen in smaller towns as the matchaker is considered more like family. And even today, not all girls in such places get the opportunity to spend time with their fiances and know them before marriage.

Remember the lecture she gave Bani at the brothel. I was super impressed with it.. Now it's like she is an entirely different person. I really dont see the point of this show anymore
In the precap, did you notice the way Bani was talking to Parmeet, it was like she was in utter denial about how time and again he had lied to her, and had dumped her...

Bani will never see anything wrong in Parmeet.. She just wants her husband. I mean she was lied to but trusted his word to the extent that she did all the remaining legal stuff for his property transfer and by then was supporting his decision without knowing ABC of what she was talking about.

When the NGO lady takes her back to her sasural, I can imagine her being so proud that she has regained her status as the bahu.. And can't you hear her saying 'dekha, main agli Rano nahi bani'
