Chapter 12

Geet went straight to her apartment. Raj had seen her wipe off her tears but didn't know if he could ask her. Once Geet entered she fell on her knees and tears started to spill. She shook her head in hope Sohan's memories would go away but she knew it was her heart that didn't want to let go. Geet filled a tub with cold water and dipped in. She held herself under the icy water for as long as she could. The coldness had the desired effect. Her body and mind froze and when she came back up she felt much better.

"I can't let myself be affected by all this. It was a simple question Maan had asked about feelings and yet I almost lost control. I need to forget, I need to move on" Geet kept saying.

Maan put the phone down. The car was registered to a Sohan Mishra. He made a note on his paper. Mishra was a very common surname yet it was very likely that he had a connection to Mishra Constructions. He finished his work on Mr DeMello's project.

Vicky had just had a talk. He had many of these talks and just like every time he went to his room with a bad mood. His dad had been after him to join KC. He had even sent off the application but it was rejected as it came in too late. His dad had accused him for doing it purposely and even though Vicky had denied it, he had to admit to himself that it was true. He never liked being told what to do. As an intern in KC he would be bossed around and had little say in matters. At MC tough Geet had given him a lot of free space. Geet managed pretty well now and could even do without him but yet she had given him the place of Executive MD along side Adi. She hadn't done it as a favour; she did it because she had seen Vicky's enthusiasm when it came to work. This was the main reason KC was not a place he would want to work. Maan Khurana never appreciated other peoples work; even Dev had complaint about it. But sooner or later Vicky would run out of excuses to tell his dad. He dreaded the time he found out but since that time was not now he shrugged it off and prepared for his evening out.

Naintara was sitting in front of the TV and watching her favourite TV serial. It was the typical stuff about monstrous mother-in-laws and failed love stories. Her mother-in-law and Dadi both joined her. She was utterly thankful for having a mother-in-law who had seen her as a daughter and not daughter-in-law. Both shared a strong bond and the care had increased when Naintara had informed her about the soon to come new addition. The family had been overjoyed at this news and even Dev who spent most of the time in office was making a point of coming home earlier to make sure she was alright. She was in her eight month now and her stomach had grown big. She complained about not being able to see her feet and having really bad back ache. Dev was at a loss. "I so wish this baby to come soon, Naintara's complaints are unbearable" he had muttered a little too loud under his breath and Naintara, having a moment of hers, threw the next thing she could grab at him. It was a vase and she hit right on his forehead.

"Ouch Naintara, this was so unnecessary."

"Of course it was. You are not the one with such a big stomach and horrendous back pain." She started to cry, not for the first time.

Dev knew how to cheer up his wife again.

"By the way, I was thinking of buying a crib today. We have been putting it off so many times now. What do you think?" Her tears vanished and a big smile came on her face. A chance to empty Dev's pocket's she never missed out.

"I must say, Riya has out done herself this time. We are hoping for very high results in her forthcoming finals" the principle announced cheerfully. Geet felt proud of her.

"I will try my best to come for her last exams to pick her up then. Armaan finished a week earlier and I want to make up for the time I have missed if it is alright with you."

"Absolutely no problem. The little boy had had a hard time so I will grant him this pleasure. If you want I can arrange for lodgings on campus so you can stay near Riya as well."

"I don't think this is a good idea. She will only get distracted with my presence. The last thing I want her to do is lose concentration shortly before her exams."

"As you wish Geet. Good bye"

"Bye Sister Margret."

Geet felt cheerful. In a few weeks she would have both Riya and Armaan with her again. She would arrange for Riya to stay here in Delhi to do her further studies and Armaan would join his old school again. Now since MC was doing so well and she managed to balance her work much better it would be easy to spend some more time with both. And she would quit work at KC. She wanted to do it since she had to help in the project but some how never got a chance. She typed her resignation letter and put it into her bag.
