I've had a bad day unfortunately...but I didn't want that to mean that there's no new update for you all. It's short, again, but I'll try to make the next update longer. Promise. Thanks so much for the lovely comments everyone. I feel really bad not being able to reply back to each and every one. I wish I had the time like I used to...but I do read all the comments. Chapter Twelve - The Newspaper

I didn't respond. I didn't know what to say. Yes, that's the truth.'? There was no way I was going to let that escape my lips. So I kept mum.

He stood silently with his back towards me as well. I waited for his voice while staring down at the ground.

"I backed away from you. I didn't want you to get close to me."

He said he didn't want me to get close to him...but a part of me though he meant he didn't want to get close to me.

"I left the room and sent in Neha. She helped you change out of your clothes into comfortable clothes."

I wondered why she didn't bring me my clothes and RK answered as though he had just read my mind.

"I told her she wasn't allowed out of my room until you were fast asleep. So she never got the chance to bring you your own clothes. It was half an hour later that you finally fell asleep."

He turned to face me and suddenly a question popped into my mind. I blurted it out.

"Where'd you sleep?"

He smirked; I guess he figured it was his one chance out of the emotional conversation.

"Right next to you and those bare legs of yours."

Self-consciously, I pulled his kurta further down to cover my knees as I stay seated on the edge of his bed. He continued to smirk in my direction.

"Are you bipolar?"

"If you're into the bipolar kind..."

"Oh shut up RK. Wipe that smirk off your face. I know very well that you didn't sleep next to me and th..."

"Actually, I did. That was the one thing I wasn't kidding about..."

"WHAT?!"

"Calm your horses. There was a safe wall of pillows between us."

"Why couldn't you sleep on the couch! Why couldn't you move me onto the couch!"

"First, because this is my room and my bed. I sleep on my bed at night. Second, would you like me to pick you up while wearing that?"

I thought about it for a moment and then slowly shook my head no.

I heard a low chuckle escape his lips. I looked back in his direction.

"I'm going to figure out the rest of last night's story. Even if it's the last thing I do."

"Oh trust me gorgeous, it WILL be the last thing you do."

I had no idea what he meant but was in no mood of wasting my energy in trying to decipher it. So, I stood and began walking towards the room door to leave.

"Hey, how's your ankle by the way?"

As he called out to me from behind, I was reminded of my ankle. I instantly felt a pain again where it had twisted, just like earlier.

"JERK."

I made sure to say it just loud enough for him to hear. He chuckled again as I limped the rest of the way out of his room.

As I limped my way down the stairs, I such a bunch of servants staring up in my direction and murmuring things amongst themselves. I slowly went to stand beside Patel.

"What's going on?"

He looked down at me with a pitiful look and then gestured towards a paper in one of the servant's hands. I walked up to him and asked for the paper. He gave it up to me in an instant. The room fell silent. Then, just as I was about to flip the paper open, I heard his loud, annoying voice from behind me.

"EVERYONE DISPERSE. DO YOUR JOBS! I didn't hire you all to gossip amongst each other! Get to work!"

I heard a bunch of yes sirs' and then it was just him and I. I didn't even get the chance to turn to face him when he placed his hand over my shoulder and snatched the paper out of my hands.

I turned around to face him.

"I'm sorry, but you don't have permission to read the daily newspaper."

"What the heck. Give it to me RK."

"There's times where I believe that you've forgotten your position in this house. Don't make me remind you."

"Everyone was looking at it and at me..."

"You really do need to stop being so self-conscious. Maybe it wasn't about you at all. Why would there be any news about you in the paper in the first place? Are you a superstar? Are you famous? No, I didn't think so. Now get your ass back to work before I make the rest of this day a living hell for you."

"Ugh RK..."

"Sir. You call me Sir."

I stared up at him, contemplating whether or not I should listen to him. I stared straight into his eyes as he stared down into mine. I let out a quiet sigh and then accepted defeat. I didn't understand why his mood towards me was like a switch he flipped every second. I turned and began walking towards my room. As I reached my room door, I slowly turned to look back at RK. He had the paper open, reading it, intently...and I could've sworn he had a look of frustration all over his face.

Then just as he folded up the paper, I entered my room, still wondering what could've possibly been in that paper.

damn short update.. after reading update my curosity increases so much I keep thinking what might have happened 😆 RK is so mysterious 😛 but I like this story its diff from others u build the suspense very well !! which I like 😊 waiting for update 😃
