I agree with you that there are BIGGER examples of writer's folly. Those all have their separate threads. This is just one of them - I think it's given too much importance 😆 It's a timepass to analyze...
What I don't agree with u of the importance of that scene. It was the writer's intention of soliciting certain emotions but the execution failed big time. Sometimes 1-2 scene is suppsed to mean a lot more than 30 minutes of filler. I am merely criticizing at CV's lack of touch with realism, psychology, emotions, chronology, as you mentioned displayed by that scene.
