Krrish 3' Box Office Collection: Hrithik Starrer Earns Over 25 Crore; Becomes Highest Non-Holiday Opener

"Krrish 3" had an extraordinary start on opening day, despite its release in the pre-Diwali period. Hrithik Roshan starrer science fiction film has raked in more than 25 crore at the domestic box office.
Even though the release coincided with a festive period, the film raked in huge amounts from Indian markets. The combined total of Hindi, Tamil and Telugu version stands at 25 crore.
"Despite pre-Diwali and non-holiday, #Krrish3 takes a fantabulous start. Indiabiz [Hindi + Tamil + Telugu]: Fri 25 cr. Mindblowing," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Krrish 3" has become the highest non-holiday opener at domestic market, beating Salman Khan's "Dabangg 2" record.
Till the release of "Krrish 3," the Salman starrer held the record for the highest opening day collection with 21.10 crore for a film released on non-holiday Friday, followed by Ranbir Kapoor's "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" with 19.45 crore.

Hrithik, the lead actor of the film, thanked his team and the country on Twitter.
"Prediwali non holiday gets 25.5cr 4 #krrish3! Congrats 2 my team Krrish!Thank u INDIA! How do I give back this love 2 all of u? Gratitude!!!" Hrithik said.
In the international market, the film has started on a terrific note, especially the UAE-GCC circuits. From UAE circuit alone, the superhero flick raked in 2.20 crore from Thursday's paid preview.
From UK, the film had raked in total 1.58 crore, Australia 44.94 lakh and New Zealand 13.10 lakh.

Almost all centres are below the opening day business of Hrithik Roshan's last release Agneepath, which released on a national holiday. In few others, business is on-par with Besharam, but at smaller centres especially in North India the first day collections was lower than Boss which collected 12.8 crore on its opening day.
The big question tomorrow will be, why did a film like Krrish 3, one of the biggest releases of 2013, carrying huge hype and curiosity, under-perform on Day 1? Sources close to the Roshans say, Rakesh Roshan, who has been in the industry for over 4 decades now, wanted to release his film on November 4th i.e after all the Diwali festivities. He was advised and later convinced to release the film on November 1st i.e 3 days before Diwali. The result? Dhanteras (first day of Diwali festivities) has had a major impact on business, as the film dropped by more than 30-40% late-noon onwards, even though the start in the morning was outstanding. The other option was to release Krrish 3 on Monday, which was a holiday, but the remaining days in the week were working weekdays. Unfortunately, since Diwali coincided with Sunday, they had to take a gamble which they did by releasing an extremely risky film like Krrish before Diwali.
Business is likely to remain on the lower side throughout the weekend, with Monday (a holiday) deciding the film's fate at the box office. What that also means is, Krrish 3 will now rely almost entirely on word-of-mouth publicity to carry it through to safety.

It seems like Rakesh Roshan's plan to release Krrish 3 on November 1 (pre-Diwali and non-Holiday release) has certainly paid off. While the film has registered an Opening of Rs. 25 crores in India, it is doing well in the overseas too.
