Anyway, obviously, Jodha would not accept Islam because that was one of her conditions for agreeing to the marriage, and history tells us that she remained a faithful Hindi till the last of her days. But, it's really not about religion as much as it about suppressing the outspoken and influential Jodha (someone people in high places have started perceiving as a threat to their rank and power) in a sinuous manner. I don't see Jalal pressuring her into it, though. Although, according to the recap, Maham Anga will have some choice words to share with Begum Jodha, mostly an excessive speech about how it is somehow Jodha's fault that Jalal went to the mandir, as if the man adheres to anybody's wishes other than his own!
On another note, today's episode saw some significant character development of Maham Anga. I admired how she defended Jalal and his actions, in public and in front of her son. Finally some proof that it is not only antagonism that she harbors for Jalal. There's some amount of love (?) or gratitude clandestine in the twisted amalgamation of emotions that she has for her foster son. Maybe Maham Anga feels that she and her son are indebted to Jalal, something that she volubly expressed. Maybe the sense of gratefulness is unwanted and she doesn't want to owe anyone anything and that is possibly why she wants Adham to ascend the throne. The stupid imbecile of a son she has would never be able to control such a huge empire, so she'll be the power behind the administration. In other words, by her biological son's assuming the kingship, she'll be able to assert a greater deal of power than she does now. Anyway, more on that later. Today's episode was unsatisfatory and frustrating. Mostly it just chagrined me that I'll have to wait three days for the next episode to come on air.
