Has A R Rahman lost his touch?

Just look at his music in 1990s and early 2000s. Its just outstanding.

Some of them I would like to list here.

Roja - all songs
Bombay - all songs
Pukar - all songs
Taal - all songs
Saathiya - all songs
Lagaan - Mitwa, Radha kaise na
Swades - almost all songs

some singles

Kissa Hum Likhenge
Mustafa Mustafa
Ae Naazneen Suno Na
Urvashi
Muqabala
Jumbalika

I have forgotten some but almost every film had classic music.

But it seems after 2005 starting with Mangal Pandey, he hasn't given any complete album that can be said classic.

His best work after 2005 was Jodha Akbar.

But there is no song as good as Yeh hasin waadiya, Mustafa, tu hi re or Taal se.

And don't say Rockstar - that was pathetic.

More so, there are some songs that start on a great note and then suddenly its tune get changed in midway. Like Tum Tak, Man Mohana(Jodha Akbar), Rehna Tu(Rehna Tu - Delhi 6).

Of course time ke saath music change hota hai par mujhe nahi lagta Rahman ne pichhle saalon mein koi khaas music diya ho.

So, is there anyone who think similar?

I hate to say it but I kind of agree. Some of his older compositions are pure bliss but lately, he hasn't delivered the same way. Amit Trivedi has become my new favourite.

I don't know about Maryan or other Tamil films. He might have given best and might not.

But about Hindi films, Raanjhanaa is nowhere near to his earlier work.

BTW I will listen Maryan. He has always been better in Tamil films.

I think nowadays some of his songs are perfect and others are a bit meh. It's a hodge-podge. But his music in the 90s was impeccable.

I don't know if it's the pressure or what but yeah he's touch that magic touch to make everything sound heavenly.

I do like the Ranjhaana songs and tunes. JTHJ had one or 2 good ones, Saans was disappointing. But last great score was Slumdog. Delhi-6 had a few good ones too--hated Kala Bandar.

Rahman has lost that touch definitely... we use 2 have songs that rocked every event function, disc, every single place where Rahman's one from each of his earlier album would have been chartbuster hit... till now Chhaaiyaan Chhaiyaan will have more thunder den any of his recent work...
Either he is experimenting or he don't wanna make those kind of songs... Dil Se, Taal, RDB... not just dance, every kind of mood song... now it is just 1 sided, slow same kind of romantic songs... even the dancing number wud hve art movie kind of feel like tu man shudi from ranjhaana...

He can score very well, only he need 2 bring back same magic...
