Rockstar album was his masterpiece and yes Raanjhanaa tracks were not that great, but I think he has diminished because the movies are changing. People like spiritual songs less, thats why peppy songs are getting popular these days.

Totally agree. I enjoyed the Guru soundtrack but it doesn't rank amongst his best works. Amit Trivedi is a really exciting composer though. And I think Anirudh Ravichander is the "new" A.R Rahman. I'm still mesmerized by Kanave Kanave from David.

Am a huge ARR fan but i guess i need to agree here..He is still good but he was magical in the 90s and early 2000s On that note, i was just seeing the Tanishq advert posted in another thread and i realized the bgm made it look so much more beautiful..Dichotomy of Fame is a masterpiece..And Rockstar is pretty recent, so here is hoping he finds his touch back..

I thought the same too but ate my words back so quickly when kadal and mariyaan came out. Both the albums had so much variety, wonderful and amazing use of instruments and voices that keeps me mesmerised even now.
here you go,,

Try listening to the audio..if not ready to get distracted by Dhanush and parvathy's amazing screen presence.

P.S: Good music is not restricted to the north of Vindhyas. Music is music everywhere,

no he dint...
plss listen to all d songs of Raanjhana.. if not satisfied, then i will suggest u to listen to tamil flick Maryan..
ohh he indeed is the best musician present in india.. even d background scores can do d wonders in both Raanjhana and Maryan..

Rockstar & JTHJ was a turnoff, but Raanjhana has some outstanding compositions nd so is Maryan.

typical predictable thread 🥱

The answer is both yes and no. He hasn't lost touch at all in fact he has grown by leaps and bounds and moved on. He is now doing something/creating some work that would be remembered even years later and in a contemporary sense getting work regularly.

What people don't get it you can't do the same thing over and over again 20 years after you have done it. It just doesn't work that way, that's how it is in any way of life not just film business. It becomes stale and you are faded from public's memory. There are numerous examples to back what I said and the greatest example that I could bring up is Legendary Ilayaraja or RD Burman. Its better to be ahead of curve and loose touch than be stale and outdated.

Amit Trivedi or anyone else it is the same. And to those who bring up his name how many albums has he scored and how many people remember, there are a number of people who already feel he is repetitive. Imagine after ten years, he has to change his style, if he changes people will say he lost his touch.

Rahman today is highest paid music director. His albums have record sales worldwide. He is far high and above any of his contemporaries today in terms of variety of music he gives. Fans enjoy and debate every second of it and learn/discover something new everyday. What more can he ask for.

If you don't like Rahman's music today, that's fine, no problem. Eventually you will love it one day or the other. That's Rahman!
