I own nothing. Copied and pasted from UN Women website

A series of ads, developed as a creative idea for UN Women by Memac Ogilvy & Mather Dubai, uses genuine Google searches to reveal the widespread prevalence of sexism and discrimination against women. Based on searches dated 9 March, 2013 the ads expose negative sentiments ranging from stereotyping as well as outright denial of women's rights.

"When we came across these searches, we were shocked by how negative they were and decided we had to do something with them," says Christopher Hunt, Art Director of the creative team. The idea developed places the text of the Google searches over the mouths of women portraits, as if to silence their voices.

"The ads are shocking because they show just how far we still have to go to achieve gender equality. They are a wake up call, and we hope that the message will travel far," adds Kareem Shuhaibar, copy writer.

For UN Women, the searches confirm the urgent need to continue making the case for women's rights, empowerment and equality, a cause the organization is pursuing around the world. UN Women is heartened by the initial strong reaction to the ads and hopes they will spark constructive dialogue globallyA series of ads, developed as a creative idea for UN Women by Memac Ogilvy & Mather Dubai, uses genuine Google searches to reveal the widespread prevalence of sexism and discrimination against women. Typecasting women and attitudes towards women seem to unite the world across the races, cultures and wipes out borders.

So sad that world comes together when it comes to their attitudes about women.Wish the world comes together for more worthy causes.

I agree

Take our own country which actually serves as the perfect example
Our politicians are split into various small groups and because of that are unable to reach a consensus on any important issue discussed in parliament. But the moment Women's bill reaches the table all of them stand united in opposing it

This is a brilliant campaign but terribly sad. I hope it serves as a wake up call to all those morons who claim that gender equality has been established already and that people who campaign for change are simply trying to cause a stir

Honestly even I was SHOCKED when I saw this

@TM
Thank you for the post.

Frankly Initially I was always in the impression that Women are treated badly mostly in the under developed or developing countries as education is still out of reach for the common man. But staying in one of the so called developed & modern country it helped me to see the other side of the coin also. To my surprise Women are the same every where... Actually it's a rather sophisticated way of treating the Women when compared to the under developed or developing countries.
One thing is for sure, all the men around the world mostly share similar thoughts when it comes to the 'WOMEN'. Great!!!!!!

In developing countries women are like beasts of burden. In developed countries they are sex symbols
And object of sexual pleasure.

Shocking!! I suppose there is a perverse pleasure in pulling women down - mayb reaffirms the fact that women are equals/ better off than now - that is why the need to pull them down
I would say that gender discrimination is worse off in developed countries - in our country, there are age old ideologies and illiteracy, which could go down as the reason for treating women as slaves or being looked down upon
However, in the developed ones, some really grave and inhumane cases have come up as crime against women - there have been likes of oprah winfrey who have gone on record to talk about the assault and humiliation they have had to face. They are just wrapped up fancily in the name of being 'developed', but inside the premise is the same - women are treated as dirt🤢

TFS.
Sad but true, all world, all religions are united against women. Even women are against women especially in India. And our serials reflect the same mentality (how BV changed the case of abatement of suicide conveniently into who is the suitable bride - Shame on BV).

Thanks for sharing.
Sad part is UN peace keeping force itself raped so many women in Liberia, after that Indian all women peace keeping was sent to Liberia to take care of women, this happens 5-6 years ago. Same thing is happening in other countries occupied by developed countries for their safety. UN itself is corrupted, what can we say about others.

Thanks for sharing this !!!
Try replacing d word 'women' by d word 'men' - n hit d search button ...
A comparison between d two sets of results makes d irony of d prevailing mindset even more pronounced !!!

All I can say is -

Women cannot be bothered about what some fools think about them.
Women shouldn't be ashamed of being who they really are.
Women should be financially independent.
Women need to make their own well being their top priority.
