solace for sometime and helps you to get know deeper of your inside but it
never fetches any answer " a voice from behind affirmed
" Excuse me? " Megha jerked back
" Are you talking to me? "
" Its just you near me other than canvas so don't you think it would be
obvious for me to talk to you?"
" Self conversing I wouldn't do so loud " he replied not moving from behind the large canvas
" I don't even know you " Megha frowned, not liking his way of replying
" And mam from where did you get this idea of only known people talking to
each other, one can talk to anyone if he wants " he retorted
Disbelief etched over her face but she chose to ignore words from this stranger, she was left with no power to talk or even think anymore.
" Everyone's life is not as simple as people think " Megha voiced nonchantly
" The biggest misconception among we humans is that other platter always look full when its often opposite " his voice was composed
Dropping his paint brush, he came to squat down beside her
" Mohan Bhatnagar " man introduced himself
" Megha Vyas " she smiled looking at the stranger's face straightly
" It does not feel right to see you like that " he said truthfully while pulling his legs across his chest
" I come here very often...whenever my mind and heart gives up. I like being in the place " she mumbled gazing at the stretch of water that was ahead
" And...you?? " she asked hesitantly still not looking into him
" I like being around water especially when I have unanswered questions " he whispered. Megha shuddered failing to comprehend if it was cool breeze affecting her or his husky voice.
And silence swept over them, none of them knowing what to continue further. Mohan still trying to find why it prickled him to hear her sobs and to see tensed form of her. He was carelessly strolling around exploring his neighbourhood and the seashore which was his main attraction for agreeing to shift here, when his eyes fell on her whilst setting himself up to sketch the beautiful expanse in front of his eyes.
" You are a painter?? " Megha asked curiously looking straightly into his eyes.
" No, I work as an editor in a business magazine and has been recently transferred here. Paint is just one hobby... "
" Which keeps me connected to myself " he continued while watching her fiddling with her shawl
Silently nodding Megha and Mohan shifted their focus back to the powerful ocean expanse. The similarities between water movements and Megha's life were uncanny which aroused whirlpool of emotions inside her, she had always appreciated watching these movements of water which appeared to be calm and collected at first but deeper you go more you understand the fury it holds, Megha seemed to find herself always after surrendering herself to these waves.
" Sometimes talking to someone who is strange to you eases away the anxiety, you would be freed of any fear of getting judged or misunderstood " Mohan whispered, gently squeezing her shoulder sensing her sudden stiffness.
It was not really a wiser thing to invade her seclusion, Mohan deduced as silence echoed the surroundings. Pulling himself back to feet, he dusted the sand off his bottoms when her hand gripped on his wrist.
" I wanted to pursue Journalism as my career but my parents had planned something else. Like any middle class family idea of a career which is very stable wasn't appealing " she started while Mohan hunched down besides her again.
" My parents did everything to provide me, I was never refused by them at any point of life and if by choosing the career of their choice would give them happiness, I'll do, I was determined once I was through my boards " Mohan was listening intently not missing out the sadness that was getting visible with every word of her.
Mohan gently coiled his one arm around her shoulder, it was not the best thing to pull a stranger into warmth of his but he felt she needed this at this moment, shiver was running down her body and Mohan couldn't comprehend it that was the cool breeze or the tension and pain occupying every cell of hers.
" And now they want me to get married " she brawled hiding her face in her hands
" You don't? " he tentatively asked gazing down at her hidden face, sudden discomfort arousing in his body seeing her weeping. He wanted to comfort her, wanted to hold her firmly and soothe her until her grief would finally subside.
" After completing my btech, I had applied for one of the Mass Media colleges in USA. I was selected and even offered scholarship, I was eluded to break this news to my family but upon reaching home I saw one old family friend of ours discussing my marriage with their son "
she looked up brushing the tears away from her dampened face
" I thought I would do this moment for them, for my parents but I could not, I cannot "
her lips quivered and finally she hid herself in his arms, releasing the torrent of unshed tears she had been holding back.
" Its my engagement next week and as days are fast approaching...I am finding impossible to breathe...It feels like I have been chained and prisoned where I can just breathe but not...live " she mouthed in between her sobs.
Mohan's hands instantly went to her back trying to soothe her, stroking her lightly to allay all the misery. Megha cuddled closer coiling her hands at his back finding bliss in being gathered in someone's arms, a stranger, her mind reminded, closer than she ever found anyone, her heart beamed.
The two large expanse, one at top adorned with glittering pieces called stars and other in front radiating the instability were witnessing the two people, unknown to each other sharing the afflictions.
It was much later when they drew apart, her touch still lingering on his body, the knots in Megha's stomach had started to dissolve, huge weight had been taken away from her, she never thought discussing would regenerate so much energy in her or was it discussing to a person who was not even acquaintance to her yet was here with her.
" You have to decide what your parents would be happy about " he took her hand in his hands
" To see you leading a life of independence, driven by your desires or to see a compromise filled years " he continued, his eyes unwavering from her face
" We pay out many moments in our life without talking in fear of shattering people we love "
" But, Megha, sometimes all it takes a conversation " he paused heaving a deep breath he continued
" Life is very exquisite and each moment of it should be valued " he said in his deep, husky voice in her ears.
Bringing her hand near to his lips he kissed her on knuckles making her every fiber to flutter at his touch.
