Pari can not be the only kid for the next generation. She will need sibling to have complicated relationships with. You give Ovi a daughter and without even trying you have one of those.

She spent most of her life loving him. Even when you know the love is not good, it's hard to let go. She gave herself to the man she loves one last time before leaving. Not that hard of a concept. (kind of Maroon 5's Daylight)

3. To make the audience like Ovi more. We understood that Ovi was leaving Arjun, but no one really saw it as a noble deed. However, after yesterday's episode for the first time some people felt she did something nice. The sex showed that she could have Arjun exactly the way she wanted him. He would love her, care for her, give her the things she wants. When Ovi rejected all this saying she sees Purvi in his eyes, and she doesn't want his sacrifices it goes to show something good about Ovi's character. It makes her seem like a deep person. A speech without the sex would not have had the same effect.

3. It shows something about Arjun. Arjun has never really done much for Ovi's sake. Even after marrying her he spent most of his time running after Purvi. He never married Ovi for Ovi, but he married her for Purvi. But yesterday it was about Ovi. He wanted to make her happy, playing in the rain is something he hates but she loves. No one asked him to sleep with her. But it happened because he wanted it to happen. One can even say it was done to show how Arjun sees Ovi in a new light. Their relationship is at a different point. He is no longer obligated to be with her since she wanted to leave him. And she is no longer "the mother of his child" that he tried to love.

The interesting part today was when Manav asked Arjun about his love he could not lie. He couldn't lie about not loving Purvi, and he had never lied to Manav about his love before. So I am guessing he was honest when he said he loved Ovi. So I am guessing the sex was necessary to show his "love."
