Hence is the Nayi Soch- not that Kumud has to live through a torturous marriage and wait for fate to kill her monstrous hubby before she re-unites with her true love; but that she stands up against 'atyachaar' and violence. After all, Kumud has that me-against-the world streak in her especially when she feels something is unjust. Saras ofcourse would stand by her. But so would Dugba and her dad since they have groomed her into becoming the fearless woman that she is. Dugba, would not let her live through a failed marriage.
Maybe thats why the CVs brought in the idea of the kora, white dupatta, just to allude to the widowhood angle in the novel . It maybe symbolic only. Kumud may never get widowed. She may actually leave Pramad.
