An extremely beautiful, no, not analysis, but a straight-from-the-heart tribute of this episode, Which was almost as beautiful as your post. Almost.

Your prose is always deeply emotional and inclined towards the high romantic, never the least bit tongue in cheek. This was one episode which deserved it, and where you could use it to superb effect. This said, agar mera dil kisi cheez par aa jaata hai, so wo hai aapke sheershak!

In fact, I loved this post so much that I shall even refrain from quibbling about Jodha's claim that Jalal has taken everything from her - a very shaky one, as Alakh has demonstrated elsewhere - which Jalal partially endorses, presumably to keep the kashti in which they are both sawaar from rocking and toppling over. I hope this fit of being 'understanding", edging dangerously close to saintliness, does not become a bad habit with him, for I do not want my medieval Rhett to become a poodle!😉

As for why Jalal takes Jodha along, I think it is so that she can, hopefully, come to get used to and perhaps, with time, even like being with him, even if it is only to spar and spat with him kiddishly all the way. That is why he asks Kya raaste bhar humse baat nahin karengi, Jodha Begum? It is not love, for all that the endemic romantics would want it to be so. She is, as now, a challenge, to be met as he meets all challenges, head on or thru salami tactics, fine slice by fine slice.

As for the pitfalls of asking something of the Almighty, it has been said elsewhere that there is only one thing worse than not getting what you want (and pray for, of course), and that is getting it. As you say, Jodha is going to discover this the hard way. I do not know what she would have done if he had been killed. I think she would have confessed, and been executed, for no one would have believed that it was not deliberate, except perhaps Hamida Banu, and even she would never forgive Jodha. It would not have mattered in any case.

To my mind, the key post-Mohan question would be this,

What will Jalal tell the others, once he has regained consciousness, and especially his Ammijaan once they are back in Agra, about why he was not able to shoot the tiger?

My bet is that he will shield Jodha by saying that the trigger mechanism got jammed, for he knows that no matter how much Hamida Banu loves Jodha, she will never forgive her for this piece of meddling that could very easily have lost her her only son. This will also be the crowning lesson for Jodha in what her husband is like as a man.

I do not cut her anything like the amount of slack you do, for I do not admire these headstrong Mills and Boon types of heroines, but I think it did her some good to fall so flat on her face with the snake - when she gratified me by not having the grace to apologise for her atrocious accusations, which is what I had predicted - and then with the jewellery donation as well. I hope the tiger episode will complete the job and keep her on the straight and narrow for a good long while.

It will be good for the enamel on my teeth, if nothing else!
