A little update on the Ranbhoomi Round for NRIs, along with some of my comments:

The three in danger today were:

Arijit Singh
Rex D'Souza
Qazi Touqeer.

Firstly, all three did a group performance to "Yamma Yamma".

Arijit Singh performed to Aaja Mahi, Rex D'Souza did Woh Pehli Baar and Qazi Touqeer sang his heart out in Sach Mere Yaar Hai.

The message that played today was directed to Qazi, and the lady said that Qazi should stop speaking like a "tapori", and he's in an academy of sucha high level that it doesn't sound good. (My notes: You'll have to forgive me if this is not the most accurate description - I was elsewhere when the message played, and what I reported was only what I gathered from my family)

Only two of the judges were present today - Javed and Shankar.

Arijit's comments:

After his splendid performance, Manav spoke to Arijit. Firstly, he asked him what he had done to prepare to defeat Qazi. Arijit replied that he had come to the conclusion that no matter how hard you prepare, you aren't going to defeat Qazi in the Ranbhoomi. Manav asked him if that meant he had given up hope on the Ranbhoomi - if it meant that the Ranbhoomi didn't hold any meaning for him. Arijit said that the Ranbhoomi does hold meaning for him, and if he doesn't perform well in this part of the show, he's troubled for days after. Arijit said that in the Ranbhoomi round he sings for himself. Manav then asked him who he thinks is weaker than him in Gurukul. After a slight pause, Arijit says, "If you look at it that way, then everyone is weaker than me."

The judges on Arijit:

Javed said that he liked when Arijit said that he sang for himself. Shankar said that after today's performance, Arijit had indeed proven that he is the strongest one in Gurukul.

Qazi's comments:

Manav commented that Qazi wasn't looking energetic as always. Qazi said he spoke to his mother sometime ago, in which his mother asked him that he was an actor, and not a singer, so why was he going into singing. Qazi said that he promised his mother he'd get into the competition and go very far, and thanks to God and the public, and he reached this far. So the day before he was a little emotional. Manav said, "And you cried as well." Qazi hesitated for a bit, and then said, "Obviously, you know a mother's relationship with her son... you feel to cry sometimes."

The judges on Qazi:

Javed told Qazi not to manipulate people with his tears, and if he was missing his parents so much then he could go back home. He said that they should be practical, and win on their talent. On his performance, Javed said that when Qazi performs everyone forgets everything else. He said, as a singer too Qazi was improving, but he still had a long way to go.

Shankar first asked Qazi if he works hard, and Qazi laughed and said, "Yes I sing in the bathroom too." Shankar then asked the students how many times Qazi sings. Shamit said, "Atleast 50,000 times a day." Arijit then said, "We're a bit confused sometimes. When Qazi sings, we forget our songs and start to sing his."

I'm sorry I can't post Rex's comments - I was in another room, so I missed it.

---

My comments:

They all sang wonderfully today. Arijit was amazing! Rex was very, very melodious, and his performance was amazing - full of life. Qazi has improved a lot. Someone who hasn't watched Fame Gurukul ever saw Qazi's performance today, and she said, "I love his voice! He's singing the song just like the original."

Javed's comment on how Qazi should leave if he was missing his parents was very, very rude. It's horrible, the way he said it.

What are your comments on the Ranbhoomi? Anything you liked/disliked? And if anyone can add in a little update on Rex's comments here, I'd like that.

Nice comments Rashmi...

Arijit was great...too good. Plus, I love the song 'Aaj Mahiya' so I def enjoyed his performance. Without a doubt, the best singer in FG.

Rex was sweet and performed well. JA was right when he said Rex had the combination of singing talent, performing ability and a nice personality. It def showed tonight. I think Rex will go far in terms of his singing career. He's a nice and charming singer. 😊

Qazi has improved a lot. His voice quality has changed...he sounds more mature now. He did a good job in the ranbhoomi tonight. But I feel he lacked something in the performing category tonight. Maybe the it was the song. He usually sings fast/mast style songs.

i thought it was rude too when javed akhtar told qazi that no one is stopping him from leaving if he misses his mom....so far i think almost all the contestants cried about their family...but no one ever said anything rude like that to them...but when qazi said that he missed his mom( i think this was the first time he even mentioned being homesick)..they like jump on him and tells him that he's being manupalitive...
P.S: i think everyone sang good...i liked Rex's woh pehli baar the most...

PakizBabe, I loved Yamma Yamma too.

Thanks, sonynyu 😊 I think his performance lacked because of the song. It's a slow song, he can't really do a whole set of dancing, can he? But his expressions were good... I mean they didn't show a whole set of close=-ps, but whatever they did, it looked good.

Khilari, Arijit was indeed really good today. Yup, Qazi's improvement was very evident. And thank you 😊

Yeah, JA was wayyyy rude. I agree, everyone has cried for their family - but of course they haven't said anything to them, it's just Qazi. The thing about Rex's performance that I liked was the balance in performance and singing... very beautiful. His adayein was awesome, and he has such a sweet smile that compliments the song wonderfully.

Liked Arijit's and Rex's performaces. Quazi was visibly less effective as a singer than both of them. But I agree that he has improved a lot, and that only goes to show that behind all the carefree (careless?) attitude and leg pulling, Qazi has a very determined soul. His shortcomings as a singer are very obvious to my ears, but thumbs up for the progress he has shown.

As for Javed Akhtar's comment on Qazi's emotional display, it did look to me that what Qazi said was not suitable for that kind of forum at that moment. SUre everybody gets emotional thinking about home and mom, but a contest is not a place for to talk about it. But I also think that Javed Akhtar could have pointed it out more politely.
