Epic serial, many characters. Many parents, crazy, doting, backward or blindly loving and even gundas.

Which parent has been the worst according to you? Who erred the most in handling their child?

(Poll didn't allow more options or else I'd have included parents of characters like Phooli and the girl in Anandi's village who got pregnant before marriage but was lynched to death. Or parents that haven't been shown but only their actions are known such as Ganga's parents who married her off to Rat, Chhoti ma who has no clue about Mahi's life, UD who's always barking about her daughter to other families etc.). "Others" category is for such people.

Worst parent and why?

Currently Ira and Alok. Not that others have been great. There should be a limit to pampering. They give in to anything and everything that sanchi demands for in the name of laadli beti...

Ira and alok, they really don't know anything about their daughter or rather understand her...big gap in the relationship...for both parenting means pampering by giving her what she wants...and think their money and status will buy happiness for their daughter...

Ira and Alok undoubtedly for the way they have raised Sanchi. My vote goes to them.
The family does not know Sanchi at all.I think she was just given whatever she asked for and was never taught about responsibilities towards other human beings. That's the reason she thinks the world revolves around her and evrybody should dance to her tunes.
Looks like the parents never ever sat down and talked with her or spent time with her and got to know her.
Probably when things went out of hand they just scolded her without bothering to explain the consequences of her acts.

So it is unbalanced pampering and scolding with very little or no communication at all.

Bhairon and Sumi for the way they raised Jagya - This is a little more complicated because to balance DS's papmering and Laad pyar BS was extra strict on Jagya.Sumi tried to put him on the path but DS used to beg and plead her to let him off the hook.
Bhairon when he caught Jagya in the wrong he used to punish him a lot as a result of which he grew up in fear of his father.Bhairon never sat with him and explained things to him like he did with Anandi.

In both Jagya and Sanchi's case it was more about lack of proper communication from parents side.

Gauri's parents are uneducated and they had certain beliefs and their perception of events is screwed up and they passed on the same perceptions to their daughter.Their upbringing of their daughter is fine in the sense Gauri did seem to be happy and secure girl until she had an encounter with her past.If she had not met Jagya she would have married an NRI or that Mr 33 and be as happy and as satisfied as she could be with her life.May be her past would have visited once in a while in her night mares other than that it would have been uncomplicated.

Sab bad parents hi lag rahe hai unke kids major harkaton ko dekhke.

Maybe DS was not a bad parent but a bad grand mom, i guess. She was the main reason why Jagya got spoiled. Sumi / Bhairon were always overruled by DS. Right now sumi seems to a bad mother.

Ira / Alok seem like irrational humans. Parenting toh door ki baat hai. Shiv is better behaved mostly. Maybe that has nothing to do with Ira / Alok's parenting skills. Maybe they got good schooling, friends.

No one is worst than Ira-Alok as parents
They are educated and from well to do families...they brought up their children in city around open mind people yet they have forgot to teach Saanchi manners...it's not just manners...they have simply let her grow herself into whatever she could from what she was getting...their parenting was just giving Saanchi a materialistic life...plus they are very unstable themselves...first they say yes then no they yes then no...like their daughter they refused to see where they themselves have gone wrong but always push their duties and responsibility on others like Jagya and Anandi...they even don't have any control over their children...they, unlike Ratan's. Gauri's and everyone else parents did not have the bad luck of grooming their children in orthodox, uneducated joint family where grand parents have more say over children's upbringing than parents...Ira-Alok brought Saanchi in very normal and good environment yet they turned out to be like this

Ratan Singh parents takes the title. Ira and Alok are not worst parent in particular they just failed in upbringing in Saanchi. It is bound to happen these days if only one girl or one boy in a family. They are not just aware of their mistakes.
Ratan Singh parents were horrible not just as parents but also as human beings. It is one thing to have rustic beliefs that boy is superior to girl but it is entirely inhumane to believe in killing people. They were OK with Ratan Singh finishing off Ganga after few years.

I was about time vote Ira-Alok due to the present circumstances. But after reading your post, you are absoloutely right. It's definitely the parents of Ratan Singh. Vile people for allowing their son to go about his wicked ways.

Very good analysis, especially regarding Gauri and her parents. Gauri was made too negative and I despised her actions and her parents ,but your post made me think it from another angle. Gauri was actually a happy (and morally sound) girl before she married Jagya.

Otherwise, I think in the serial, almost all parents are bad parents worst being Ira-Alok seeing the way Sanchi is. No parent seem to have meaningful discussion with children, to guide them. If Bhairo, Anandi, Shiv etc. turn out to be good, perhaps it was their own traits. There is lack of communication from both parents and children's side. Even now Jagya does not see it necessary to communicate with his parents. Take Gahna - (Basant is old school, and we can forgive him for not bonding with his son) but DS did not pampered Nandu the way she did with Jagya, still Nandu also stole things from others/fought with boys etc. Gahna is never seen parenting Nandu, instead she resented Anandi & Sumi because she thought they are interfering in her parenting.
