Frankly, I found Ranbir's statements equally as annoying as some of the opinions expressed by members in here.

like "Gandhiji delayed the independence of our nation"

"Gandhiji used to sleep naked with girls"
"Rk was not dissrespecting gandhi so called father of nation who use to sleep naked with gurls. 😔 and gandhi never supported the likes of bhagat singh the true national heroes.

My humble question to most of them in here: Were any of you there or a part of freedom struggle to know how 'easy' or how 'delayed' the process or how it was when living under the british rule? I wasn't there either but at least I can appreciate how impossible or elusive the freedom dream must have been, or what kind of tough challenges people lived under. Even right up until the moment we acquired independence as a nation, it was a near-miss, right until the end, what with the riots and stuff. Each time I catch an old teleserial/movie on freedom struggle, I get sleepless nights...imagine living under that horror for even a second.

If we were to compare the shortcomings of india's role models, am sure we would find plenty. That Nehru was a tainted prime minister, is a mystery to none. Bhagat Singh's methods reflected the anger of the youth, yet it yielded no long term fruit. Unfortunately, their methods mirror exactly those of modern day terrorists. and so on. Yet, I would have to give them credit and respect them for what they did for the country.

That Ranbir disrespected Gandhiji (if he said so as mentioned in the title of the thread), is an understatement. Gandhiji was bold, daring and courageous enough to document all of his life candidly and willingly put himself through many personal sacrifices, tortures inflicted by british.
Yes, he put himself through bizarre self-discipline experiments but no one can deny that if he had not been ceaselessly fighting for a beleagured and a broken nation, none of us could have been here. He deserves respect for that much at least. To be the one who kept on dogmatically against the british, and sticking on till the end for decades on end, is something none of us in here will be able to do.

If this were an independent discussion on Gandhiji's way of life (independent of his fighting spirit and unique persona), then all these opinions could have been informative and to see different perspectives. But the way we tend to downgrade and defame our own heroes (in response to an irresponsible statement made by a person) is sickening.

No one remembers any of our freedom fighters. At least let Gandhiji has his respect intact on his birth anniversary.

😆 ... Gandhi deserves negatvity. Well said Ranbir.

The way people praise "Gandi" irks me, as much as people like to deny this.. he wasn't the one who gave us our well deserved "azaadi".

It is Gandhi's ideology of non-violence, that is admired all over the world. Its not him who gave us our independence. After world war 2, when England suffered the Nazis wrath in the war, it was universal decision that all colonial rules should end. British have no option but to leave...and they did.
