After the inspection, he was asked to pay 1.70 lakh " 1 lakh as duty for some goods he'd bought and 70,000 as fine for trying to evade customs. Since Ranbir didn't have the required amount with him then, he was not allowed to take his baggage home with him.
And his woes didn't end there. Later, even after he settled his dues, it apparently took a little longer for Ranbir's luggage to reach his home as his staff forgot to carry a letter authorising them to collect the same. Only after they returned with the letter, did the custom officials release the actor's luggage.
