No, fat insurance is another one... If the property is self-earned i dont think the will has any different bearing other than direct inheritance for all heirs... not so if its an ancestral property...or if the guy wanted to "donate" his/her wealth to the somebody else other than the immediate "ungrateful/undeserving" family...

Fatmah, not sure how much truth this hold, but I have heard that in US if you don't have will if both parents die your kids could be passed on to foster parents and not family members. Court will decide about it if you don't have will about asking your kids to be passed to godfather or whoever you wish to take custody. Someone who is sure please confirm about it...and same goes with wealth. IN that case yes, it is the only document that could protect or benificial to your child.
