[EP#2]
Since I am not yet over the hotness of that blue blazer in the episode and the mustard blazer in the precap, lemme just say - RV doesn't always get tracks revolving him but my GOD! When he does, he makes sure all eyes are on him because he just NAILS it!!
(I actually dreamed of Kunal last night so I'm a little too much in love with him 😳)
JJ is a mastermind, no doubt. He deliberately twisted the events into such that RanSh would get there where he wants them. Let's not forget, more than just for ICC, it's kind of a test for Buddies as well. Will they endure it? Last time in APC, they were too young, too immature to pass a massive hurdle like that and JJ had accepted his mistake. Situations may be changed now but the basic need of trust is very much there. Have they grown and matured enough to face this test? Time will tell.
I liked the different thought process of JeeMi. While RV was strictly adamant that he won't fight against his friend, KD was reluctant because of the lack of confidence. Make point that KD put "can't fight against my friend" at the last of the list of "Why I Don't Want To Stand In Elections" whereas the basic story of RV's book was that he just won't fight against his friend. It shows how characteristically different these two guys are. RV doesn't have much in life and what he has, he will fight tooth and nail to protect it. And that are his friends and his relationships. For KD, though friends matter, they aren't entirely everything. His own ideology and what he wants always prevails. RV is the kind who'd gladly let go of something if it ensures that his friendship or relations which matter remain intact. KD is the kind who'd go forward with what he wants, not damning his friends but trying to get the best of both of them. That showed today.
RV was 98% sure that he won't fight in elections. KD was dangling somewhere between 50-70%. Whatever Panchi said, their reactions to that was different. While RV was irked that she was going in circles, KD wanted to make sure what he was thinking wouldn't alienate him from his friends. Both of them, in their own way, wanted solid backing that what they were thinking was right.
RV - to forfeit.
KD - to go with it.
Kiya said right. We find answers where we least expect them to find. KD, seeing his young brother being friendly with his best friend despite making him lose in a match, figured that if he can do it, why can't the same happen with RV? They are friends, they've been through a lot and are at a phase which is strong for them. I felt like KD just needed a little push to say yes. He stands by strongly with Omi and that was evident with the way he was participating 100% in the campaign before this nomination fiasco happened. While he wouldn't have indulged in dirty politics of it all, had things been the way they thought were going to be, KD would always have been at the right side of Omi. KD just needed some boost of confidence that he can handle this election and his friendship with RV as well.
Which is a stark contrast to RV. He wasn't ever 100% involved in all this. While he stood by Avi's manifesto, he wasn't doing everything to support him. It was more wordy than proved with actions. RV was very much under-confident in all of it. His words, his hesitation; it all pointed to his lack of confidence that he can't deal with his friendship while going through these elections. He wanted assurance that he was right in backing out. That was shown in his talk with Panchi. He didn't want to sit and deal with it. He has never done that! Ranveer Shergill rarely in his life sat and thought about things. Hua tou hua, nahin ho raha tou bhaad mein jao! He kind of has lived with this. Now, when he's forced to actually make a decision, he is panicking. There's no easy way out here and he is realizing it. He knows it, deep down, that whatever he decides, it would affect the equations at hand. One would affect less than the other but it would affect.
Precap showed RV being surprised that KD already handed in his nomination. Now, that puts him in a position that he has to go ahead with it as well. Oh, yeah he can still back out. But he was counting on KD to do the same as him so that he won't feel alone with this burden. Sadly, that isn't the case. Avi was right, lines have been drawn. What's left to see is who will go on which side of the line.
P.S - I had forgotten how much fun analyzing TBP is!!!
