SRK - A career built on rejects.

The biggest superstar of Bollywood of the last 20 years - King Khan. He's made a career of other people's mistakes and rejects. Some of his most memorable roles and films are films rejected by other stars that have helped him becoming this massive brand.

Starting from the beginning

1) Deewana - Originally offered to Sunny Deol. Dharmendra's nephew Ghuddu Dhanoa was the director and wanted Sunny to play the role. Sunny opted out and Dharmendra recommended SRK who was doing Dil Aashina Hai with Hema.

2) Baazigar - Akshay Kumar was the original choice after having worked with Abbas-Mastan in Khiladi. He rejected it followed by Arbaaz Khan, Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan who all didn't want to play a negative role.

3) Darr - Sunny Paaji was again offered the choice of either role. He chose the good guy. Sanjay Dutt was signed as the negative lead but jail happened. After which a host of actors from Ajay to Aamir were approached. They all had their reservations until SRK came along. The role turned out to be the real protagonist while Deol cried foul.

4) Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge - Saif was the first choice to play Raj Malhotra, in this landmark film. For whatever reason, he turned it down and SRK was approached and the rest was history.

5) Devdas - Salman Khan was again the first choice to play Devdas but he turned it down before hearing the whole script. He was that bored.

6) Swades - Hrithik Roshan was offered the role. After sitting on it for a few months he declined.

7) Chak De India - Salman Khan was the original choice but he declined. It was considered a more personal decision than a professional one because of his problems with YRF at the time. Regardless, SRK was more than happy to step in as Coach Kabir khan.


How different is SRK's career if you wipe off all these films off his resume?
What did he see that these other actors, could not?
Which one is the single worst mistake?

Call it vision, call it something else but no other actor has been able to make a whole career off the mistakes of his contemporaries to this extent. Many actors don't like doing rejects today, fans are caught up with who the first choice was. They should just take a peek into SRK's illustrious career. He's almost never the first choice, that hasn't stopped him from becoming the KING.

But he has justified every role of his and acted brilliantly that was rejected by others

thats not career built on rejects 😆. thats seeing the potential in the role/script/director which others couldnt / didn.

Most of the original choices sound disastrous anyway
Plus even if the ones after DDLJ are removed his career would have neen unaffecred
rather we would have missed on some terrific pefformances

You say that are not rejects. How are they not rejects? Those films came to SRK after somebody rejected it, so they are somebody's rejects. I already said that SRK had vision which his contemporaries didn't for him to take up these subjects.

I am so glad that SRK is not hung up on who rejected a movie before him...maybe because he came from a humble background and didn't care as long as he got good roles...The important thing is that he made all those who rejected these movies say...aah I missed that man...should have done it😆😆...He did these movie and owned them...and if you ask me none of these movies would be iconic if not for Shahrukh Khan⭐️

I believe I heard abhishek is kind of uncomfortable doing films that were offers to others cause he try's to avoid controversys . I don't where I read that


But it's all apart of life . Not everything is offered to you first but just make the most of it
